Our Honeymoon - Hawaii/ Las Vegas!!
Okay...here goes...We spent 6 days on Kauai, 4 days on Maui and 3 days in Vegas: Kauai: We stayed at the Hyatt Regency, which was phenomenal! The staff was so friendly and we received an upgrade on our room, which was very cozy and next to the ocean. The grounds are amazing! One word of warning to brides staying at a resort like this, however....don`t expect to get ANY extras for free. We knew this going in but everything costs money, and things are expensive at the resort! We ate in restaurants outside the resort, bought water and soda and a cooler at Wal-Mart to take with us on day trips, etc. and we saved a lot of money. The next time we go back to Hawaii, we will probably rent a condo, but for they Honeymoon, the Hyatt was spectacular. We did not go in the ocean that much on Kauai because of the rough surf, but we did a lot of hiking and exploring the beautiful landscape. We upgraded to a convertible and it was so much fun. We would have like to have more sun on this island, but I guess we caught a rainy week. One more thing: If you would like to take a helicopter tour and you are not afraid of flying, take 'Inter Island Helicopter Tours'! They fly with the doors OFF! They also only take 4 people so everyone has a 'window' seat and you can see so much more than in the regular helicopters! Maui: We took it easy on Maui and relaxed at the pool! The weather was gorgeous. We stayed at the Hyatt also but we were not as satisfied as with the Hyatt on Kauai. The staff was not as courteous and the resort is more of a high-rise hotel. We were on the side of the hotel where the Luau started every night at 5:30 and you could hear everything from our room! It was so loud when we were trying to take a nap! We were going to request a room change but we just didn’t feel like moving our entire luggage. Tour tip: If you enjoy snorkeling and don’t mind taking a large motorized raft tour, go with Captain Steve in Lahaina. He took us to Lanai and we saw tons of turtles. They come right up to you! I can’t wait to get the pics back. The ride back was a bit bumpy but a small price to pay to see such beautiful animals. Las Vegas: We stayed at the Bellagio and all I have to say is wonderful! Our room overlooked the fountains and there is a channel on the TV to play the corresponding music! I love Vegas so we just had such a great time in the short time we were there. That’s about it..If you guys need any tips or have any questions about the islands, just let me know. I am happy to help! We had such a magical time!

Our Honeymoon - Hawaii/ Las Vegas!!
Thanks for the review. My Fi and I are getting ready to book our honeymoon to Hawaii. Did you book with a travel agent, and if so, which one? I have heard that if you stay at the Hyatt on Kauai and Maui that you get a discount off your room. Did you get that? Can you give me a general idea of what your trip cost, if you don't mind? I am expecting that 6 nights on Kauai and 6 nights on Maui will cost about $7,000 for air and hotel. Am I calculating right? Any info you could offer would be great? Thank you and Congrats and best wishes!

Actually, you are right on! Our honeymoon cost slightly under $7000. We received I think one or two nights free at the Hyatt for staying 5 nights. We used Liberty Travel so that our shower guests could give us gift certificates towards the honeymoon. Since we have lived together for over 4 years, we already have so many housewares! Good luck with booking. Hawaii is awesome!!!

Tina...
I didn't know you can do that? Get gift certificates from Liberty Travel towards your honeymoon? As of right now, we're unable to afford a honeymoon. I was thinking about the shower. We've been living together for a while too, and we have everything already. That's a great idea! Would you mind telling me how it works? Does the people attending the shower just go to Liberty Travel and ask for gift certificates, or do you already have your honeymoon planned and they pay towards that? Thanks!

Tina...
All your guests have to do is go in to any Liberty Travel and ask to purchase a gift certificate. They can present it to you at your shower and you can use it to make your final payment on your honeymoon. One word of caution, you may want to quietly spread the word that you want these as shower gifts only. If you receive them for wedding presents, you will most likely have paid for your honeymoon already. I guess you could use the extras for weekend getaways, etc.

Kaui- Princevelle Resort or Hyatt?
Thanks for sharing about your honeymoon. We just went to Liberty Travel today. We are planning to go away for 11 nights-5 at the Four Seasons on Maui and 5 nights at Kauai. The last night will be at the Hilton Village at Pearl Harbor. We were orginaly planning on ataying at the Hyatt- b/c we heard such good things. The travel agent suggested Princeville b/c she said it's exactly the same, and we would save $400. I don't know anything about The Princeville Hotel except that it's on the other side of the island and it's known as the rainy side-but it's 10 mins. away from the sunny side. lol Anyway, please let me know if you know anything about either of these hotels. Thanks everyone.

Kaui- Princevelle Resort or Hyatt?
Well we stayed at the Hyatt but we drove to the other side where the Princeville was located. (its actually about 1 hour away)I am partial to the Hyatt but the Princeville looked very nice. I saw it from the car and from the helicopter ride we took. Its also not too far from Hanalei which has lots of nice restuarants. I think the Princeville also has some nice restuants in it. One shopkeeper told us they have a great view of the sunset. It only rained at night by the Hyatt when we were there...everyday was sunny and beautiful. Princeville it closer to the rainforesty part. I dont think u can go wrong. They whole place is simply paradise. Even when it rains you will be on your honeymoon and I am sure u can find something fun to do ;-) hope this helps. j

Kaui- Princevelle Resort or Hyatt?
Jamie - we are doing the same honeymoon. All the same places! I booked myself, though, not through an agent. Thought I'd give you what I'm paying so you can compare. Our flight is free b/c of frequent flier miles. Our hotels for 11 nights - Princeville Jr. Suite (5), Four Seasons Garden View (5), and Hilton HWV Kalia Tower O/V (1). $4150 including taxes. I found that the prices I got on my own were better than the packages. FYI - my brother & a girlfriend stayed at the Hyatt and loved it!!! We went with Princeville b/c it's by the mntns which we love & has a swim-up bar!! Also, the Jr. Suite has a jacuzzi tub and magic shower windows - 1 flick of a switch and you can see the ocean & mntns from your shower!!! It looked like a fabulous resort. We are going in July and summer is aparently the best time to stay up North b/c the weather is supposed to be more reliable. Although weather in the South of Kauai is always supposed to be more reliable.

Just an FYI that it rains A LOT on that side of the island..The Princeville is georgeous though! The sunsets are supposed to be beautiful from the terrace! The Four Seasons on Maui looks incredible. We passed it on one of our drives. Good luck and have a great time!

Princevelle in July 2002
Thank you for writing. Now I am soooo excited to go. I think we''''ll stick with the Princeville. I bet no matter what I choose, I''''ll love it. I like the idea of a swim up bar. We were going to book fancy rooms, but my friend who went last summer said she got upgraded in every hotel. But now that I hear so much about the jr suite with the amazing view, I think I''''ll upgrade. We''''re using Liberty travel. We will probably pay for the flight and use miles to upgrade us to first class. I think the flight was around $700 each. I can''''t find the itemized price list right now from Liberty Travel, but when I will find it I will share so we can compare. Thanks for everyone''''s help. I am so excited!Welcome New Vendors
