hello. i had a 2pm appt today with anna at national floral wholesale. short story: we waited 45mins to meet with her before we gave up and left. long story: so we made the drive from selden to bellmore and got there on time at 2pm. we waited at the counter for about 5 mins while anna and her customers were talking at the big table about 3 feet away. anna did not acknowlege our presence, though her customers were nice enough to smile at us. she then called some guy out from the back and he came over to us and asked us what we needed. we told him we have a 2 o'clock appt with anna and he led us to the realestate store connected to nfw (owned by the same freddy i suppose). we then sat in the realeastate place until 2:45, at which point my fi says to me 'there is nothing she can say at this point that will make me want to book her. can you imagine the flowers being 45 mins late for the wedding?'. i was thinking the same thing, so we left. honestly, we would have had no problem waiting if anna or someone would have acknowledged they were running behind and maybe provided us with some books to look at while we wait, but we were left in that place for 45 mins uninterrupted. and let me tell you, that realestate office was gross, the rug was filthy and had 2 dead giant moths on it. not a good experience. if anyone has any florist recommendations i would love to hear them! thanks~lacey

Re: our nfw experience
I am so sorry to hear you waisted your day off. They seem like they run a very unprofessional bussiness. So many brides have made negative comments about them lately. I would not even consider looking at them for my flowers. Cheap or not they are very rude to leave you waiting there for almost an hour. There are many wonderful florists who will do a good job and give you a fair price.

That s u c k s! We went there last night (Friday). We were early but Anna helped us right away. Did you even get to meet with her? she was actually very nice and gave us a great price. It's so weird how so many people have such good experiences and bad experiences with the same places!
Did you make an appointment with Burtons? I heard they're supposed to be reasonably priced. A couple of my friends used them and we're going next week to see them.

thanks! yeah, its such a far drive for us :P oh well, i will try again next weekend.

i would love to hear some recommendations!! i hear signiture is good, so i will have to make an appt. i have an appt with burtons for next weekend, but i heard that they have a flat price of $65 for low centerpieces and i don't want to pay that much. i do not want to spend a lot bc i don't need big fancy flowers at the aquarium bc the fish are the main attraction. hopefully i will find an inexpensive and punctual florist soon. ~lacey

Re: our nfw experience
The negatives that people have been posting about NWF was the appointment situation, and for no other reasons.
However, there are stsill many POSITIVES that are posted about NWF.
This happens with all vendors. Negatives and Positives. I just keep my eye out for the negatives that will effect the service for the wedding in the end (ie: flowers are dead, not the right color, etc.)
Sorry you had a negative experience. No need for you to have gone through that, most especially on your day off!
I can suggest George from Signature Florist, I've heard many positive reviews and his prices are as competitvely priced.
Good Luck!

Re: our nfw experience
i am sure we would have gotten a great deal from nfw...if they would have kept the appt. i guess its a matter of luck when it comes to that aspect of dealing with them.
i will def check out signiture florist! i wish i would have known they were so close to each other, i would have made an appt with them for today as well. ~lacey

Re: our nfw experience
Sorry that happened to you! That actually happened to us with a few vendors and halls when we were in the planning stages...it's just wrong!
Regarding flowers, I have heard nothing but great things about Flower Michele and LA Blossom.
Good luck!

i am glad i walked out too. i am disappointed bc i really wanted to have flowers booked before school starts in 2 weeks. i fm'ed freddy at nfw and let him know what happened and what i think of them, i hope he responds ;) i made sure i told him to vacum the rugs in his office before they stuff people in there to wait. ~lacey

Re: our nfw experience
i had a rotten experience there too. she wanted to charge me $400 for 20 fishbowls for the flowers!!! cheap they are NOT!
i'm probably going with masters in rockville centre. they charge $50 for low cps. and they throw in a LOT of extras, and don't charge for ANY of the guys' flowers!
burtons charges a flat rate for LCPs. i think it's $65 and there's no budging.
you don't deserve to be treated like that.
there was one florist i went to who asked me who else i saw. when i told her NFW, she was shocked i had even heard of them. she told me they used to order from them, but refuse to anymore because they would send the wrong flowers and many of them were old. she was shocked people ordered wedding flowers directly from them.
i'm glad some people have good experiences with them, but it seems that lately, she's losing business due to higher prices and bad business.

I had an experience like that with a hall and walked out. If you have an appointment they should at LEAST apologize or give you books to look at for wasting your time.
