OMG i am soo sorry. Where was the puppy from? Have you contacted them about it yet? If it was a breeder you should demand your money back plus any paper work to show the dog was previously to a vet. If it was from a store there will most likely be nothing you can do about the vet bills but again you should be able to get your money back. There are puppy lemon laws. Im just not sure how long after purchase they are good for.

What did the puppy have? I havent heard of anything thats also contagious to people. I mean parasites are but its pretty rare.

I forgot to mention if you are going to fight for vet bills or the purchase money back you should think about having the vet perform a necropsy (animal autopsy) and get a statement from him on the cause of death.

We got the puppy from Shake a Paw. I have to read the contract but I am going to see what I can do. I am just heartbroken right now, She had giardia from what the vet said. My brother who is also a vet said it is contagious to people and we have all of the symptoms.

I have never purchased a dog from there, but I have heard so many stories of people getting dogs from there that are sick. It is so sad because I used to love going in there and playing with them.

]Im sooo sorry this happened to you. I have 2 dogs from there but, I have to say they, Skae a Paw are the ones that are supossed to be paying for all of this not you. With in a months time if anything happens they are responsible. Both of our puppies got kennel cough and they paid for it. When we bought the 2nd puppy she gave the kennel cough to our other dog and they paid for that as well. Then we found out she had a paricate, sp?, and they took care of the whole thing. We had to be real careful cause she could have given it to us or our other pup and he got tested, they also paid for that.
If I were you I would go down there and demand your money back and all.
Did you go to the vet they recommend? Tell them to send the bill to Shake a Paw.

All pet stores sell puppymill dogs that are sick or come from horrible places.
You may have just gotten lucky your dog wasnt sick, but many many dogs that come from pet stores are, you never see the mills or the tractor trailer that pulls up in the early morning hours to unload those dogs some of who died from the heat from the long journey.

Dont fool yourself...dont buy from pet stores period!
