Our Save the Dates Got us in trouble...

Our Save the Dates Got us in trouble...

We're thinking of limiting our guest list to 125, instead of 150. BUT... we already had over 100 people at our engagement party.. and they ALL received Save the Date magnets. Plus, even those that didn't come, we sent them a magnet in their thank you cards for their gifts.

So... my question is... how do we limit the guest list... if everyone already has that damn magnet on their fridge? lol. We know relatives from out of town who didn't come to the e-party are definitely planning on coming to the wedding... so the number is goin' up, up, up!!!

I also had just started my job around the time of the e-party and invited EVERYONE. Now there are people here I REALLY don't like. Do I have to invite them to the wedding? Do I only invite the ones that gave me a gift, even though they didn't come? Can I NOT invite a coworker that chipped in on a gift with someone if I REALLY don't like her? ay, ay, ay... I have a headache.

Friggin' magnets.

I feel bad because my mom keeps saying we should try to limit the guest list, but we can't at this point!

WORD OF ADVICE to brides who haven't sent out STD's (still think that abbreviation is funny) or invites for your e-party. YOU HAVE TO INVITE THEM ALL TO YOUR WEDDING, TOO!

My wedding per person cost is 4x more than my e-party cost, so I think we went a little invite happy for the e-party. Yikes!

you cant. there is literally no way you can cut guests that already have your std. fh and i had this fight already. i wanted to cut the people in his class, only 5, but it adds up. but of course he already told them they are all invited. so i don't want to be the biotch that tells them sorry, you were never really invited

guests lists blow

That's a tough one. I don't think you should feel obligated to invite people you don't like, but it's a tricky situation. How much fallout do you think there would be at work? do you have a lot of contact with those people? maybe they don't really want to come anyhow?

What if we send out the RSVP card to certain people with the 'will NOT be able to attend' box already checked off?!!?

Ya think they'll get the point?

This is tough. Maybe I shouldn't send out STD's just in case.

Exactly the reason why we never sent out a Save The Date. We needed to have a flexible guest list.

Seriously, is it possible to address it with them directly? or that would be weird b/c you just don't have that type of relationship with them (which is why you don't want them there to begin with! )

exactly... there's this whole 'clique' of people I work with that are all bitter, older (mostly women) people. I just feel that they don't like ME (they actually don't like most young people). One woman I KNOW can't stand me... but it's mutual. So, how do I invite HER?

I was only at my job for about 3 months when the invites went out, and I didn't want to insult anyone by not inviting them, so I invited everyone on my floor. Now I'm screwed.

I hate to agree, but unfortunately I think she is right. I don't know how you could not invite someone that you sent a STD to. Sorry

yes, good advice: what i'm doing is only sending out STD's (very funny for me too lol in a third grade way) to immediate family and OOT's that i know are coming (b/c i think they are cute and stuff)... the 'b listers' are not getting them just in case... but good advice!!

I think 'STDs' is funny, too....

on to your 'pickle'

maybe you can invite without guests unless they are married or engaged, eliminate kids....this could keep some OOTs away(?)....you can always not invite co-workers that you are less friendly with now...and maybe make those all no guests if they aren't married already....sticky situation...HTH some.

maybe you'll luck out and they won't come. That way, you're only out the cost of the extra invites, you haven't insulted anyone, and hopefully you won't have to deal with them at the reception.

we'll cross our fingers for you!
