Over 30 Brides... A Question

Original post by JoanneAndJustin

I will be 35 when I get married... FH will be 28. We are going all out for this wedding. It's a first time wedding for both of us. Is it 'silly' to have the wedding of your dreams at 35? Am I too 'old' for all of this fun stuff? I love it, but feel a little like I'm sitting at the kiddies table when I should be sitting with all the adults.

We are paying our own way, and we have a lot of money invested in this so we can get whatever we want... and I'm so excited about everything. I just want to make sure everything remains elegant and pretty and wonderful without being inappropriate for my age. Is it OK to have a big huge wedding at this age?

Re: Over 30 Brides... A Question

I can really understand your feelings on this because I had them magnified by 100. First marriage for both of us and we were 56/61!!!

Since I finally did have that opportunity we both said what the hey, let's do it.
we did tone down a few things - - my dress was more conservative than most and no garter or bo-k toss. Not too many singles by that time and those who were really didn''t want to advertise and how many more bo-ks do they want to catch.

but what we saw the most was the immense happiness every one had for us and hope for more weddings for others down the line.

so go ahead and ENJOY EVERYTHING!!!

It is definetly not being silly to have the wedding of your dreams at 35. I was 41 and DH was 40 when we got married this past October and we had the wedding that I had always dreamed about.

I'll be 34 and it's ok to have the big wedding you've always dreamed of having. My FH will be 42 and it's the first marriage for both of us. We've waited this long to find each other we want to celebrate. We are paying for it so, even though I've gotten from f&f 'do u really need that' ...um YES we are doing what we want so we can look back and have no regrets.

I agree with every bride on here...it's your wedding and you should have the wedding of your dreams...who cares that you're 35? I'm 40 and my FH is 47. It's my 1st marriage and his 2nd....we are going as all out as we can for our day. My friends know that I waited a long time to meet the right one and now I want the best wedding we can have. GO FOR IT!!!!!

i don't think age has anything to do with it. there is nothing childish about planning such an important day for you and your FH, so try not to look at it that way. you make it sound like 35 is ancient! no worries. plan your day the way you have always dreamed...age shouldn't change that a bit. let your taste and your style come through. it will be a great day for you guys!!

I agree 110% with this

H E L L YES it is ok I will be just shy of 40 (b-day is Nov.) FH will be just shy of 36 (b-day Nov) and we are having a wedding and yes we have heard the oh why do this at your age crap... Never been married .... Granted we have lived together years but we both knew it would happen someday there were just things we wanted to accomplish before we were married like college and careers. So have your day and enjoy it!

It is your day you should have a big wedding if you want it!! I will be 33 at my wedding and since I am only planning to do this once I am going all out.

ita. this is your day. age has nothing to do with it.

I totally hear you-- I'm 34 and FH is 35. I have a big poofy dress and was a little worried about that being ridiculous! But Its in less than a month, and I am very, very excited! 30's are the new 20's. Very few of my friends are married yet.

It's not silly at all to have the wedding of you dreams, when DH & I got married I was 44 & DH was 50 (my first, DH's second marriage) we had the wedding that I always dreamt of having. We did all the fun stuff. It's your day, do it your way.

Re: Over 30 Brides... A Question

Go for it. Age is only a number! This is a second for me and first/'last' for FH. I am 37 and he is 36. FBIL married last year and did the big event and was over 40.

Who cares about age?? Do whatever you and your FH want to do. You are not silly at all.

Re: Over 30 Brides... A Question

You're only as old as your feel. I got married at 30 and my husband 31, we still felt young, I personally still feel like I'm 20. Go all out and have a great time...a lot of people get married in their thirties these days, age shouldn't be a reason not to have the wedding of your dreams.

Go for it. You only do it once. I will be almost 37 on my wedding day. The only thing that I am doing different is having a band instead of a DJ(if I was 25, I would have had a DJ), but most of the people coming are much older.
Best of luck.

I will be 35 and FH is 49. It's my first wedding his second. We are having a big wedding and I couldn't care less what people think. Do what you want? Of course you are not too old.

I have said it at least 10 times already, but this is the best. wedding. website. ever. (and I've looked at all of them, believe me!) This is the only wedding site I know of that consistently focuses on wedding related issues while everyone still has a good time. Thank you all for your support. I really appreciate it!
