Over 30 Brides... A Question

Over 30 Brides... A Question

I will be 35 when I get married... FH will be 28. We are going all out for this wedding. It's a first time wedding for both of us. Is it 'silly' to have the wedding of your dreams at 35? Am I too 'old' for all of this fun stuff? I love it, but feel a little like I'm sitting at the kiddies table when I should be sitting with all the adults.

We are paying our own way, and we have a lot of money invested in this so we can get whatever we want... and I'm so excited about everything. I just want to make sure everything remains elegant and pretty and wonderful without being inappropriate for my age. Is it OK to have a big huge wedding at this age?

I thin it is never inappropriate to fufill a lifelong dream. You only get married once and it should be all you wished for! I will be 37 at my wedding and FH will be 34. We have doing it all to what we always envisioned. Granted, some of my concepts of things have changed since I was 27, but I am still having the big, elegant, church Cinderella wedding with all the trimmings. Hvae fun and don't questions anything.

It is your day you should have a big wedding if you want it!! I will be 33 at my wedding and since I am only planning to do this once I am going all out.

who really cares whether or not other people think you should 'go all out' for a wedding at 35. your money, your life, your wedding--have what you want and don't let anyone make you feel like you're too old to splurge. carpe diem

Who says weddings are only for 'younger' people. You are still young, 35 is not old lol and you can do whatever the hell you want at YOUR wedding. HAVe fun and remember you will only do this once =D

I'll be 37 (just shy of 38 - later in the month) and FH will be 35.
Why should we NOT have the wedding of our dreams just because we took our time to find the right person to settle down with?!

I actually had a friend who I don't see anymore say to me 'I just assumed you would elope'.

Pffft. eff U!

I do sometimes feel the same way as you in regard to sitting at the kiddie table but you know what, it's like picking your battles - I'll choose what's important to ME to stress over and ignore the little things.

I was 34 and DH was 41 when we got married...first wedding for both & we paid for the whole thing too...who says there's an age limit to weddings??? Enjoy it!

We're both 38 to be 39 for our wedding, I'll turn 40 the month after. First wedding for both, our parents are still paying for the majority of it since I am not the first in my family to get married and we are going all out on the necessities (RH and band) I'm not doing all the cutesie things I see on here like cardboxes, petal cones, etc. I'm keeping it simple and classy but still all out in my opinion. It's your day enjoy and do whatever you want.

I am 39 and DH is 38. We just got married, both of us for the first time. And I had those thoughts too. But you know what? You have waited a long time for this and you deserve to celebrate it in any way you want. How many times have you been happy for other people when it was their 'turn'? Well, now its your 'turn' and people want to be happy for you!

Of course you should have your dream wedding! It would be silly to do anything else! I will be 32 & FH will be 36 at our wedding! & I'm so exited! That is the one day of your life that it is all about you & FH, so make sure to do every little detail that will make the 2 of you happy!

It is just as momentous and wonderful for you to mark your lives together as a couple. Go all out and love every second.

If a big wedding is what you want and you have the means to get it, I say go for it!!! I kind of know what you mean- I will be 32 by the time I walk down the aisle and I have not personally enjoyed this process as much as I thought I would. maybe b/c I have been in 7 weddings and not because of my age.

Don't let your age make you feel like you don't deserve this YOU DO!!!!!

You all have made me feel so much better. I was going to go ahead and do it the way I wanted to anyway, but to see so many people in the same situation is wonderful. Thanks for all your kind words! I'm off to go to my RH... for the third time this week

Re: Over 30 Brides... A Question

I am going to be 1.5 months shy of 35 when I get married. My FH is 40 already. We are getting married for the first time and are having a blow-out wedding with all the bells and whistles. Go for it, do as your dreams and wishes want. 35 is the new 25 anyway!!!

I'm 35 and having a much 'nicer' wedding than I ever could have had at 25. We have more $$$ now!

Go crazy, hopefully, it's something you will only do once!

You absolutely still deserve the wedding of your dreams! I don't think age should have anything to do with it. This is one of the most important days you will ever have in your life and you should totally celebrate the way you envision it. FH and I will be 31 and we will have a very big wedding. We are not holding back on anything we want. We have the money and we have both waited to find the right person....we want everyone to celebrate this with us.

Re: Over 30 Brides... A Question

i don't think age has anything to do with it. there is nothing childish about planning such an important day for you and your FH, so try not to look at it that way. you make it sound like 35 is ancient! no worries. plan your day the way you have always dreamed...age shouldn't change that a bit. let your taste and your style come through. it will be a great day for you guys!!
