Over thinking it?
Hi All! This might sounds crazy but, I am really having a hard time picking my photographer. I met with Duet and Lighthouse this week and liked them both but, just didnt feel like they were 'the one.'I am meeting with JayLim photography tomorrow. I LOVE his work but my only hesitation is he is just starting out. He worked for Duet and is slowly leaving there. He will do a few weddings in 2013 then 2014 just his own business. My hesitation is not his experience but his business. He is registered on the knot and I have found a few people who booked with him but, I feel like he could take my deposit and close down his business. Am I driving myself insane or should I just go with the photographer I love?
HELP!!

I could totally see where you are coming from. I would just meet with him & then worry about it. You could meet him tomorrow & not click with him and then you'll save yourself the stress.ETS: sorry i am not much help! lol

I know exactly what you mean, but understand everyone starts somewhere. If he has great reviews then I wouldn't be too worried. You're signing a legal contract binding you to his business and vice versa. I'd think he would have to give you a lot of notice before closing up shop. And I agree with MrsMango--you might not click with him or think he'll be a good addition to your wedding day.

I am a jaylim fanatic (was it you who FM? Lol) but his contract is legit and he has all th credentials and a very explanatory policy and insurance so as far as him taking your deposit and disappearing I doubt it but you should be backed up lol.

Totally understandable... the only thing you take away from your wedding (besides your FH lol) is your album!!! Take your time, think it through and keep shopping around =)

I don't think it sounds crazy at all! When I was looking for photographers I checked out Duet specifically for JayLim which is when I found out he would no longer be with them in 2014. I had a friend who used him for her wedding (through Duet) and her pictures were STUNNING and she was completely satisfied. Like you said, he definitely has the experience and I think that will help him in the business aspect as well. He knows the shots to take and he has the portfolio to attract clients and keep his business going. With that being said, I looked for photographers back in the summer of 2012. I didn't check him out because I felt like he was in too much of a transition and I felt nervous, so I TOTALLY understand where you're coming from. From what I've been reading on the boards, girls who booked with him have been really happy so far and it seems like he's really settling into his business. Good luck at your meeting!

Well ladies thank you for allll your input!! I went to JAYLim today and booked him on the spot!! His studio in westbury is GORGEOUS. So modern, set up like a gallery. He was sooo busy about 5 brides came in while I was there. He was so nice, worked with my budget and I am so happy to have such a photojournalist photographer within my budget. I highly recommend checking him out!! YAYYY
