My FH and I were discussing wedding bands and he said rings bother his fingers and are uncomfortable. He wants to buy a chain and wear it on the chain. He said he'd wear it on his finger when we went out but not on an everyday basis....what??? I was pissed... would you be?

Re: Overreacting??
yes i agree! i would be totally annoyed..the ring is meant as a symbol of your marriage and i believe the guy should always wear it on his finger

Re: Overreacting??
FH is going to 'try' to wear it but we shall see- i hope he can though!!!!
its not a HUGE deal to me. . .i wish he would wear it but not something i feel like fighting about.
eta: i can see where a ring would be annoying with his job.

Re: Overreacting??
I wrote not care but that's because my dad has never worn a wedding ring.... My parents have been married for 37 years. When I was younger I didn't even know men wore wedding rings. So I'm kind of okay without the rings. I never saw it as a symbol on men. Never looked at guys hands to see if they were married. Now FH is excited to wear a ring and says he will never take it off. As much as I'm super excited abou that. I would be okay if he didn't wear it. I know I'm super super weird like that, but that's just how I am.
PS - My dad was a NYC firemen and its kind of a hazard at the job to be wearing a ring, so he just never got in the habit of wearing it....

That's my thing....I don't want to fight about it. I guess I just always thought he would wear it!!! I guess there are worse things

Re: Overreacting??
ehh if he doesn't want to wear it I'd be pissed but if he doesn't wear it because it is uncomfortable for him I'd understand. Of course I'd prefer he wore it on his finger but I'd rather have him be comfortable

Re: Overreacting??
Have him try on a comfort fit band. They're contoured so that only the outer edges are actually touching his skin. Most people find that more comfortable.

Re: Overreacting??
I wouldnt be happy, but if he put it on when you went out, i would feel better about that, and at least he said he would wear it on his neck and didnt just say he wont even get one.
i can understand him saying its uncomforatable (however, maybe he should try it out first) FH says that too.. but hes never worn a ring, so he doesnt know. BUt i told FH that he has no choice and he has to wear it

Re: Overreacting??
FH and I got into a mini argument, because I am contemplating not taking his last name..
So he said, he will be contemplating not wearing the wedding ring...
IM TAKING HIS NAME
In all honesty, when I fist read this, I said. OVERRACTING Not a big deal.. but after thinking about it.....
yes I would be annoyed..just because he says it bothers, as if he is uncomfortable.. HELLO!!! We have to wash dishes, our hair, remember to take it off and on, if we dont, clean it, get it out of a tangle....you are going to give birth to his child!! and he doesnt think he will wear a band because it.. 'bothers him', nah, now that ive given it some thought.,..id be pretty annoyed..

Wow, my parents have been married more than 40 yrs and my dad never ever wore a ring either - maybe bc he was a NYC fireman as well! Like you, I never realized guys even wore rings, so I would not be particularly bothered by it either.

ooh - it would bother me.
Plus, I just LOVE the way a ring looks on a man.

I would be annoyed but I dont think I would fight with him about it. Maybe after he's tried some on he can find one less bothersone.

Re: Overreacting??
I wouldn't be happy at all if FH said he wasn't going to wear his ring. I'd fight back and tell him I won't wear mine unless he wears his...I'd be a brat until I win! lol

Re: Overreacting??
FH is a technician and its a hazard to wear a wedding band....he said he doesnt DO rings anyways...I really dont care if he does or he doesnt...this is coming from someones who's dad and 2 brothers all dont wear their wedding rings on a regular basis b/c of their jobs...so I dont think its weird...they wear them on certain occasions and going out on weekends *you have to pick your battles*

Re: Overreacting??
I would not be upset at all. FH is a mechanic an he can't wera it beacuse it can get stuck and his finger could get cut off. So I am glad he won't be wearing it. ANd also he would getit all scratched up. And I knwo he don't ike wearing rings so on a chain is fine.

Re: Overreacting??
FH's job involves him sticking his hands into buckets of clams, worms and dead fish. . .LOL I don't want to even KNOW what could get caught under a ring
Plus he works with some some machines that could possibly get caught on his ring and who knows what could happen then?
Like I said, he is going to try it - but if he doesn't . . . I will just have to announce that he is married every where he goes
Maybe i will hire a little boy to follow him around with a bullhorn

Re: Overreacting??
Im a bit upset b/c FH can't wear a ring..b/c he had surgery on his hand when he was a kid and if he wore a ring it would irritate him. Oh well., nothing I can do!

Re: Overreacting??
I would be a little upset about it but I would understand. As long as it is shown I'd let him wear it on a chain.
