Paging babygirl0918...growing frustrated with the Catholic Church!!

We have been trying to set up an appointment with St Martin. I've left numerous messages as well as my fiance. No one seems to be responding to us. My fiance went there and waited after mass which was the only opportunity he had to talk to someone. I called this morning and the receptionist told me there wont be a priest or deacon in until thursday!!! I find it hard to believe that there wont be ANYONE in the church until thursday. Im getting very frustrated becuase I cant make any other plans until we set a date at the church.
PS - Babygirl0918 is there any advice or do you know anyone I can speak with. Im even thinking about looking elsewhere, but I really dont want to do that.

sorry im not the person you were talking to but my deakon did the SAME thing. It took us a month to get him to call us back to make a friggen appointment to come in. My FH and I must have called AT LEAST 10 times each... and he only called back ONE of those times!!!
I wonder why they are like that? - the only thing I could suggest for you to do if since they have a receptionist find out what hours he is normally in .. then just go there! Mine was never there AFTER 11 in the morning. We made the first appt. on a sat and got everything done!

There's a shortage of priests. Not every Church on Long Island has a full time priest.
That is why you were told there would not be a priest there until Thursday I think. Did you explain why you were inquiring? Maybe that will help in securing an appointment.

The receptionist said the priest is on vacation and that he will be in on thursday. She said the deacon is having a family problem and cannot help anyone. We know the existing problem with the deacon, which we more than understand. He was the only one that responded, and left his home number in case we wanted to speak with him. But under the circumstances, we dont want to bother him. We have left several messages to speak with priest, make an appointment, or just to call us back, and we are still waiting. I asked if I could leave a message for the priest to call us back because it was urgent and she said she's not taking messages and just telling everyone to call back on thursday. That's ridiculous!!!! So I called my FI since it's his church and he called up. She remembered him because he's called so much and she said that she apologizes, but there's nothing that can be done. He said he's going to call on thursday and that we will be forced to go to another church if he doesnt get to speak with someone on thursday.
Im just soooo frustrated because there are a couple of place all ready booking my date which is a holiday, so each day I run the risk of losing another place because Im waiting on the church. FI does not want to get married at the reception hall, but is now willing to look into other churches even though his family has been going to St Martin's for over 25 years!
