I have a wedding in Virginia this weekend and I'm wearing a halter dress that comes above the knee and open toe shoes. I know I'm going to be freezing in that damn dress. Can I get away with wearing pantyhose with open toe shoes? fishnets maybe?

i dont' think i would object to fishnets. they have nice nude fishnets out there. just tuck the seam under the toe though so you at least don't see that. i don't think that would bother me, and i am really finicky about stockings with open-toe shoes. make sure to paint your toes red too - that always helps with that look.
ETA: fishnets are not going to keep you any warmer though...neither would regular sheer hose.

It's a big fashion no-no to wear stockings with open toe shoes---But fishnets are an exception to this rule.

a sheer layer of hose will do nothing to keep you warm. wear a long coat instead!

It is never, ever okay to wear open toed shoes with pantyhose! It's criminal!! I agree the pantyhose will not do much to keep you warm. Lose the pantyhose or wear different shoes.

o man, I was just having this dicussion today. I am looking all over for new shoes for FBIL's wedding on Sunday & I want open toes one-I know I will freeze but the whole thing is indoors so for the limited time I will be outside, it's worth it to freeze, rather than to look weird with pantyhose & open toe shoes! JMO

I would probably go for a different pair of shoes. I would feel ridiculous with stockings and open toe shoes but I would not feel dressed up with bare legs.

Okay, ladies...I'm in agreement that you shouldn't wear pantyhose with open-toed shoes....however, can I ask a question?
What makes fishnets an exception to this rule? I don't get it I would think that would look WORSE But then again, I am so not a fan of fishnets!
