i also think its disrespectful not to get ur in laws and album. what u can do is ask ur photographer if they can do a portfolio. im doing that for my dad. only cuz he has my sisters album and it just site there an collects dust. and my parents r seperated. so this way he don't fell left out and he can put that on a table or the wall .

Re: Parent Albums
i'm kind of in the same situation here with FH's mom. She just doesn't give sh*t and I know an album isn't going to matter to her.
NOW, we have to get 4 albums b/c his parents are divorced and his grandma was basically his mom growing up SO i will actually spend the $900 on my rents, his dad and his grandma, but will most likely make one for nothing for his mom.
FH actually said not to get 1 for his mom and as much as i can't stand her, i just don't feel right. She's not worth the $300 though, that's for certain.

Re: Parent Albums
Fh and I are paying for most of the wedding. We are still giving a parent album created by the photographer to each set of parents. I think its only fair to give them a keepsake. Also, both of our parents have helped up so much in life already, we owe them! This is just mu opinion on the matter. Everyones family is different.

I cant believe that just because parent arent contributing money to the wedding- then they dont get an album at all unless they pay for it??? We are paying for this wedding all on our own--and both sets of parent are getting parent albums...TO make matters worth both sets of parents are divorced- so I need 4 parent albums...My father and his father arent really taking an interest in the planning or the wedding- but they should still have a keepsake of their childrens wedding. I am just saving money by making albums on Snapfish...that my opinion
I see both sides. But if someone cares so much about having a keepsake of their child's day...shouldnt they care enough to buy it? And I'm not 100% saying this is all about money. It's about showing an ounce of interest in the wedding. If you dont care enough to offer some money...or if money isnt an option...just some support, help etc....then why should I spend even a penny more on a wedding that is already costing a fortune. I find it interesting that people think a parent just deserves an album b/c they gave birth to a child. So they can just show up and do nothing to help with the wedding...but leave with an expensive gift? But me expecting some sort of support in return is insane??? It kind of seems like a double standard to me. FH and I should dish out money just b/c they 'deserve' and album...but his family doesnt have to do anything b/c they did enough just by bringing him into this world. Interesting : )
Again...I'm just defending my point. Hope no one takes this personally!
ITA Traci - all I am saying is that when you pay for a wedding yourself you need to cut costs somewhere and by not paying for your parent to have an album that they will only probably look at once is a way to do it.
