im not having my photog do parent albums. i'm taking the CD of proofs and doing my own albums online. its cheaper and more personalized. i would do that if i was you. IMO.

Re: Parent Albums
I actually agree that you shouldn't get them an album. It's not like, this automatic rule that every parent gets an album that's professionally done, and if it's actually costing you money and they're not being supportive, I think it's perfectly okay to get your parents a really nice album as a special thank you for everything they did to help you with the wedding and give the other parent a cheap album with pictures in it and none of the frills.
Sorry if that makes me evil, haha, and I don't mean it to be spiteful to his parents or anything, but it's kind of a thank you gift to parents and a lot of thought and everything goes into the production of the album, and it sounds like your parents deserve a thank you and his parents deserve... a book of pictures to have and remember the day by, which they're kind of entitled to, but that's it. I don't think you should go out of your way for them with it if they don't seem to care, and I agree that your parents shouldn't be deprived since they are putting themselves out big time.
Just my opinion, don't kill me ladies!

Re: Parent Albums
we're getting the same parent albums for both parents. we let my mom pick the # of pics she wanted in the album and just told FH's parents that's what they were getting. They aren't giving us $ towards the wedding, but we still wanted to get them an album.

Re: Parent Albums
you are 100% right that there are 2 sides to every story. we are basing our opinions only on what you have told so yes there is a lot that we dont know.
what i have noticed through this wedding planning process is that alot of people cause drama...drama that stresses us and our FH's out when this is supposed to be a happy time in our lives and it doesnt seem right or fair. but i have decided that no matter what i will take the high road and do the more mature thing that helps me sleep at night
no matter what you end up doing i do wanna say that it really stinks that this is even an issue, like i said before..we're supposed to be happy right now and instead we have to come on here and vent and solve problems regarding other people. the nerve of some people i tell ya! just let us be happy on our wedding day!!!!

I totally agree with this. My parents are sacrificing alot for this wedding...which is why they are getting one.

Re: Parent Albums
I cant believe that just because parent arent contributing money to the wedding- then they dont get an album at all unless they pay for it??? We are paying for this wedding all on our own--and both sets of parent are getting parent albums...TO make matters worth both sets of parents are divorced- so I need 4 parent albums...My father and his father arent really taking an interest in the planning or the wedding- but they should still have a keepsake of their childrens wedding. I am just saving money by making albums on Snapfish...that my opinion

honestly, i would be offended if i was them and i found out your parents are getting one just because they helped contribute. it is still their son's wedding.
i pulled all my parent albums from my package but only beacuse i plan on making them myself on snapfish for them to cut costs.
I understand it's their son's wedding...but then shouldnt they contribute something?? Anything? If money is sooo tight for them that they cant give a small contribution to the rehearsal dinner )not even expecting them to pay ti all)...then I think they need to understand that I need to cut corners when FH and I are spending a fortune on this wedding.
My Fh's parents arent paying much towards the wedding. they dont have the money to. they offered to help with the RD and FH is still putting seperate money away on teh side to help his parents afford that. not everyones parents are in the position to contribute and although its a super nice gesture i dont think they should be expected to contribute to something that is yours and not theirs. its like expecting guests to pay for their plate..if you have a wedding where its $300 a plate should your guests have to cover that because its what YOU chose and wanted? YOU guys chose to get married and have a wedding for YOURSELVES...so you cant expect them to contribute just because its the wedding of their son. they might not be paying for your wedding but they gave birth to and raised the wonderful man that you chose to marry. isnt that contribution enough?
I have a similar situation and i hear what is being said about the in-laws being offended...however atleast a gesture that they care would be enough reason for me to get them an album...instead of nothing but constant grief! An offer to help pick up something you ordered...in my situation all FMIL does is tell me what i not doing or what im doing wrong and it isnt what she says that bothers me its how it is said...and yes we are chosing to get married but if we didnt do it that way the in-laws would be the first to talk (sad isnt it) Just making the effort to save and not telling my mom how she wishes she could help with the wedding but its just not possible, and then the next day she is getting her hair dyed and nail tips put on...if someone wants to help there is always some way to do it. it doesnt always have to be monetary...also I think that the in-laws would be more insulted if they found out my parents got a professional book and they got a snapfish book...so there is just no pleasing everyone! give it time...maybe eventually they will be helpful...but in the end you have to do what is good for you and what you wont regret

I think parent albums are wayyy too expensive. My mom doesnt want a parent album- she's into scrapbooking so she'll make her own.

Re: Parent Albums
09'er playing devil's advocate here. When two people decide to get married they shouldn't be looking for handouts from anyone. If someone wants to GIVE a monetary donation, you should accept it graciously. You shouldn't expect it just because it's your parents or his parents, etc. If you're going to give one set of parent's an album and not the other just because one is contributing money, that is very petty. Give them both albums or, give them none if you're concerned with saving money. Being petty will just leave them with a bad impression of you in the long run.
