I don't think you are evil at all! You need to cut corners somewhere!!! You can give them the option of purchasing one for themselves from the photographer when the time comes.

There are websites where you can diy albums and they look sooo nice and start under $50. If anything, you can get her one of those.

honestly, i would be offended if i was them and i found out your parents are getting one just because they helped contribute. it is still their son's wedding.

i pulled all my parent albums from my package but only beacuse i plan on making them myself on snapfish for them to cut costs.

IMO - I do think its disrespectful. FH's parents are not contributing but I still got them an album. Actually I needed 3 parent albums since his parents are divorced.

I would do what Jackie suggested, at least make them one on snapfish. Or I would just suck up the $300.

Re: Parent Albums

i think thats kind of wrong (IMO) FHs parents are divorced and they both are not contributing to the wedding. But we actually added on an extra ablum so that both of his parents can have one and that my parents could have one. I think his parents would be so insulted if we didnt get them one because they are not contributing to the wedding.

sorry if thats not the answer you were looking for but one day you may look back and regret it and so will your FH.

Re: Parent Albums

I think if you are giving one to your parents then you should give one to his. My parents havent contributed a dime to the wedding, they dont think its their responsibility to pay for it. On the other hand, FH parents have given us some money to pay for the wedding. We decided to just get albums through our photographer. My mom suggested I just make one like my sister in law did, but honestly, I really cant be bothered. Id rather just pay for it to have it done. I think you should either make both, or buy both.

hmm, I don't mean to wishy washy, but now that I'm thinking about it more i'm starting to agree with christine and jackie. I'm not getting the professional parent albums from my photographer for neither of my parents nor FH's mom. I would prefer to make my own. I also don't want to overstep my boundaries either, but could taking off one of the albums stem from the strained relationship that you and FH's mom have?

Re: Parent Albums

i have to agree with the others. i don't think its right not to give them an album just because they are not contributing to the wedding. do you know for a fact that they wont pay for the rehearsal dinner? what happens if in the end they give u a gift that will help cover the cost of the wedding, then not giving them an album will make u look like the bad person. (IMO) some parents don't want to just hand over money & would rather wait to give it later.

I agree with Christine and Jackie, neither sets of our parents are contributing towards the wedding and we still are giving both parent albums from our photo package. I would never be able to give my mom an album and not FIL's

you're not 'evil' at all!! you can easily make one yourself like Vanessa mentioned... i know alot of girls use snapfish or some other photo website like that

I'm in a similar situation with FHs parents (mostly FFIL) and you know what? No matter how uninterested or unhelpful and sometimes RUDE, etc. they are -- they are his PARENTS. We cut all the parent albums from our package. They'll each be getting a framed 8x10. If I do albums on Snapfish I'll do one for each parent. Out of respect...

Even if they don't respect me (they do). I will show them I'm the bigger person and respect them.

I understand it's their son's wedding...but then shouldnt they contribute something?? Anything? If money is sooo tight for them that they cant give a small contribution to the rehearsal dinner )not even expecting them to pay ti all)...then I think they need to understand that I need to cut corners when FH and I are spending a fortune on this wedding.

My Fh's parents arent paying much towards the wedding. they dont have the money to. they offered to help with the RD and FH is still putting seperate money away on teh side to help his parents afford that. not everyones parents are in the position to contribute and although its a super nice gesture i dont think they should be expected to contribute to something that is yours and not theirs. its like expecting guests to pay for their plate..if you have a wedding where its $300 a plate should your guests have to cover that because its what YOU chose and wanted? YOU guys chose to get married and have a wedding for YOURSELVES...so you cant expect them to contribute just because its the wedding of their son.
they might not be paying for your wedding but they gave birth to and raised the wonderful man that you chose to marry. isnt that contribution enough?

So to reduce my photo package and make the photographer I really wanted more affordable...I pulled one of the photo albums. It reduced the price by $300. My dad thinks I am evil...to not give FH's parents an album. Am I??? The way I see it...they arent contributing to anything...not even the rehearsal dinner...so why should they get a $300 album.

I like that idea!!! I should cut FMIL's album out!! She's offered nothing but to buy us a designer cake (we just want the one the hall gives, rather have that money go towards something else we NEED). She says the cake is the CP of the wedding.....
Long as my cake taste yummy... that's my concern.

So when she is ready to be realistic about this and help us out with something we actually need instead of offering things she knows we dont want... she can get her parent album back!

Re: Parent Albums

It doesn't matter if your FMIL is a complete biatch. Mine is the devil in human form. But like Jackie said, she gave birth to the man of my dreams. And to keep the peace, I am getting her an album.

Can you imagine her reaction when she hears your parents got one but not her?

I would get the album and cut the $300 elsewhere if things are that tough. For the sake of peace, I would definitely just do it.

LOL! You're hysterical. How does FH feel about that?

Re: Parent Albums

Mine aren't getting an album unless they want to give me the $$$ for it (and they do not!!) They have helped us with nothing. I have said nothing to them about this matter but it's understood they are getting NOTHING.
