also because they are supporting us in more ways than monetarily :)
THIS!!!
So, we wrote 'Together with their families...'
I like this, thank you for the advice!

Re: parents hosting or just contributing?
Wow do I seem like the biggest b*tch! FH and I are paying for evrything. My mother cannot afford to contribute and his parents are paying for his family - but please keep in mind we would have paid for the close immediate family....they wanted to tack on another 100 so we are pretty much being forced to invite people we dont know and dont know us so I don't really consider it a contribution to help us - b/c it hurts more than helps - we are still responsible for all their centerpieces, invites, favors, etc!
So, we just put our name on the invite and I don't care. I feel like I am being forced into a wedding I don't really want to I will at least control what I can.
Sorry to vent but after reading everyone's responses, a slight feeling of guilt is taking over.

Honestly I don't think you should feel guilty. If you are doing everything on your own then you are hosting your own wedding.
Our parents expect us to invite their friends and aren't offering to pay for them. I mean it's not 100 more people but still, we barely even know some of them. So they gave us monetarily what they can, which isn't a lot - It comes out to just under 2% of our estimated total cost. We both have big families to begin with, and I am also doing many things myself to cut costs, and our parents aren't much of a help with this type of stuff. My best friend and 2 sisters are much more helpful and with out those 3 I would feel like I was doing this alone. That's where my question stemmed from to begin with.

I would then put 'together with your families'...however, mosty people read that and automatically think parents - not sisters/brothers/etc. At the end of the day it's up to you and what you guys feel comfortable with! Good luck!

I think that is what I'm going to do! My sisters will know I'm talking about them too and that's what's important.

Re: parents hosting or just contributing?
My dad has helped a bit, other than that we are payjng for everything ourselves. On our invites we plan to say bride & groom with the blessing of their families..... We arent putting parents names.

parents hosting or just contributing?
I WISH i could get away with 'together with their families'.... from day one my parents said they would be insulted if we did that. Granted they are giving about 1/2 of the total cost, and i refused to have one set of parents without the other.... but EVERY time I turn around they keep insisting that THEY are throwing this party for us, not we ALL are throwing the celebration...
Sorry for my rant, when i should have answered your question....

FH and I are paying for the majority of our wedding ourselves. My parents paid for my day of attire and are hosting my shower. FH's parents are paying for his custom tux, the church donation and are hosting the RD. Our parents collectively hosted our EP. Our invitations read 'together with our families'
Hope that helps!
This! Pretty much the same as our situation... Just got my invite draft and my mom seems a little hurt we didn't list the parents names when we used 'Together with our parents'. IDK I want our names to go first bc we are paying for majority and have help from both sides so we don't want to favor by a name first. But it looks funny listing the names underneath ours

I'm not sure what we'll be doing yet..both parents are going to help us slightly, but I feel like in the end it's just nicer to put their names on the invitations as well

What should we write if my parents are paying for a majority of our wedding and we are paying for things like photography, dj, flowers, limos. FH's mom cannot afford and hasn't mentioned anything about contributing or not contributing. I don't want to make her feel bad, so I've kind of been stressing about the wording on the invitation.
I'm in this exact situation. My parents are paying for the reception, FH and I are paying for all the vendors, favors, etc. FH's parents, though I love them, haven't offered to pay for anything other than the rehearsal dinner. So what I'm planning on doing is something like this:
Mr. and Mrs. S--- D--- Invite you to celebtate the marriage of their daughter Lauren to J---, son of Mr. and Mrs. J--- G---
That way, everyone's on there, but I think its obvious my parents are hosting. (Also I'll obviously dress up the wording a little bit.)
