parents involvement

just wondering....how involved are your parents (more likely your mother) in the wedding plans and festivities? is she helping with the RH search? dress shopping, etc?

both Fh's parents and my parents are paying for the hall and my parents are buying me my gown, shoes, veil, headpiece etc...every other vendor is up to FH and I!

My parents and FH parents will get updates on everything but since most of the wedding is being paid out of our pockets and it is our wedding we will be making all decisions.

both of our parents are giving us some money, but fh and i are paying for about half of the wedding.

fh and i have been doing most of the plans on our on and just kinda telling our parents what we have planned so far but .im sure when it comes to dresses and what not my mom will be more involved in appts and stuff.

My mom & my godmom are involved in my wedding. They picked out my BM dress, FG dress and they went with me dress shopping. They paid for my invites and the alterations that are being done in all the dresses.

As for major stuff, it's me & FH.

My mom does this. A whole ton. So, we fudge what's been booked, too. And how much it actually costs.

I give her roundabout figures, and probably tell her a month after I book it.

She means well, but she always thinks I'm getting ripped off, and is always second guessing. So, it's not that she's negative, she's just always playing Let's Make A Deal.

My mother has accompanied me to a tasting and when I booked the RH. Also, she came dress browsing with me and will pay for my invitations.

My parents are paying for the wedding. I've been very blessed. However, they're leaving most of the planning up to me. They gave me my budget and told me to get started. I've already booked the church (they know my church as I grew up at that one) and the hall. They haven't even seen the hall yet. My mother will be VERY involved when it comes to dresses, flowers, and all of that fun stuff though.

both our parents are very involved.. i dont really make any decisions without asking at least my parents... i value all their opinions and i understand its not just MY day.. its all of ours day and its just as important to them as it is to me.. BUT they do not make decisions for me.. i have to say i do not always go with their advice but i still ask :)

my parents are paying for our wedding so they are very involved. But allow us to make the final decision on everything. My mom and FMIL coem to all the appointments with us so we have extra ears to listen to everything they say.

both my parents and FMIL ask questions here and there but nothing major, not yet anyway.

Re: parents involvement

My parents arent really involved. FH and I are paying for everything ourselves. I tell them what is going on and I get 'thats nice' or 'why are you doing that' They are really old fashioned and dont understand why I am having another wedding since I have been married once already. I try explaining that FH has never been married and that this wedding is not going to be a typical wedding. I get as an ans, 'they already gave you gifts for your first marriage'. I have told them I am doing this not for gifts but to celebrate our love and commitment to each other and share it with the people we love. They just dont get it. So I guess they will be guests at our wedding!

Re: parents involvement

My parents are very involved, I am the first daughter to get married, so its a big deal. They are paying for a lot of it too, so I greatly appreciate that. My mother and I have been doing most of the planning, and I am so thankful to have her.

FH's father and stepmother are involved, they contributed a little and are always asking about whats going on. His mother, at first was horrible, but I think she's getting better.
