The good news is ladies if you change your name within a year of getting your passport they'll amend it for free once you're married.

I wish I knew this sooner, I changed my name on my passport and it was less than a year from my original one. No one at the post office told me about that. That s**ks for me, I could've saved myself $75!!!

I got my passport in 1 week!!
That's crazy, the lady told me 6-8 weeks. I went to the post office in Deer Park. It's the only one on Long Island that's open on weekends. Walk-ins are only available on weekdays (kinda hard if you work 9-5) and weekends are by appointments only, EXCEPT for the one in Deer Park. It literally took 5 mins. Definately go to Deer Park post office!

I didn't know until a clerk (who gave me the amendment form) at the post office told me. I looked it up on the web site as well and realized he gave me the wrong form... I was so mad that I had already gotten my passport a long time ago

Go to your local post office!!! FH and I had our photos taken and forms filled out there. We had our passports in 9 days with no rush It was super easy!!!
