When you send in the certified copy of your marriage certificate, do they send it back to you with the passport or do they keep it?

To change the name on your passport, you must send them your current passport and a certified copy of your marriage certificate. I wanted to know if they send the marriage certificate back with the new passport?

I do believe that they send it back to you. The website makes no mention of keeping any documents, plus I do recall sending in my official birth certificate and state ID when I first got my passport and receiving my documents back along with my new passport in the mail.

They send it back. I sent mine Fedex to get done and enclosed a fed-ex back so I could track it. This was a while ago, but I still think you could do that.
