Depends. You can send for it throught the mail (4-6 wks). Sometimes sooner though. Or you can go in person if you are pressed for time. But I think you have to call first for an appointment and have a ticket.

Re: Passports
Through the mail or post office (4-6 weeks) Also you can go to the passport dept downtown Manhattan and walk out of there that same day with a passport, however they charge you like $300 for this express service.

Re: Passports
i would say do it asap bec my fh applied for one two years ago before we were going abroad and he ended up going through this additonal screening process that took MONTHS!!! we had to get grammar school records, parent death certificate, hs transcripts, etc we needed like 7 points of information and it was a nightmare.....we never expected that to happen and it almost ruined our trip, but luckily it all worked out.....sooner the better!

Re: Passports
Hi, I j ust did this -it usually takes two months -but you can pay for expedited service, and revceive it in two weeks - that cost me 150 for the passport and expedition.
There's also a way to get your passport in days, but there are strict guidlines for that, so you should look it up at: http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html
