Past Brides - Did you see your FH before the ceremony?
We met with the photographer tonight and he advised that we take all of our pictures together before the ceremony. Our ceremony and reception are in the same place. He said we could take all of our pictures and then enjoy the cocktail hour and reception w/out really be interrupted. What do you girls think? I agree and totally see his point, but then we're breaking that 'tradition'.

Alot of photographers recommend that. Alot of times it makes practical sense timewise. But I couldn't do it, I'm too traditional! I wanted that moment when DH saw me at the other end of the aisle to be the first time he saw me that day. I wouldn't trade that moment for anything in the world!

I think it's whatever you want. We took pics before and alittle during the cocktail hour. It didn't really bother us. There was no way that dh was seeing me before the ceremony.

We didn't see each other. What time is your ceremony and cocktail hour? I think the pictures at the Watermill (from the time we arrived until the cocktail hour) took about an hour and a half just to give you an idea how long it took us.

I am not an 'past' bride, but I will definately be seeing my Groom on the day of the wedding. We are going to the park to take pics.

We saw each other before hand. They did make it special but no told me to put my boquet down, so the picture of me is blocked by that!!!!!
But I am happy that we did it that way, it was a lot less stress that way!!!

I will see my FH before the ceremony for pictures..i think it is so worth it...i dont want to feel rushed when taking them and feel as if i am missing my wedding, we are starting 2 hours before the ceremony, (going to be an early day)

We saw each other before hand as well. Our photgrapher set it up so that we would each be surprised and we have a picture of our faces as we saw each other. It saved us a ton of time.

I agree with your photographer! we're doing the same thing.
You will not only miss the entire cocktail hour taking pictures, but your photographer will probably pull you and your family out of the reception for portraits as well. you will miss so much of your wedding. That was not an option for us.

The ceremony starts at 1:00-1:30 then 1:30-2:30 is the cocktail hour.

this is what we did & its like i got '2 first' moments - 1 at OWG and 1 at the cerm

I'm not a past bride, either, but we are also seeing each other before the ceremony. We didn't want to miss a moment of the reception and we also thought it would be nice to see each other for the first time in a more private setting.

Yes we did see eachother
We stayed at a hotel the night before the hair and make up was done there early and then we got dressed there. I was going to get dressed at the hall, but had changed my mind so we rode to our wedding together dressed.
we took all our pictures first and were done before the ceremony. Spent about 15mins of our cocktail hour doing more shots and we enjoyed our guests and the food.
Honestly.. ive had my proofs for MONTHS and it only JUST dawned on me that Jim isnt wearing his ring. His hand isnt really the picture on most and I had gloves so other than the rings you can't tell we did our pictures first. Except it was before my hair got wild hehehe

i am not seeing FH before, i want the first time we see each other that day to be when i am walking down the aisle. we extended our cocktail hour so we can take pics right after the ceremony and still make it to cocktail hour.

our photographer wants to do the same thing. I think it sounds like a great idea, but I'm still unsure I'll have to sleep on this for a few days

We are also seeing each other beforehand. Since we are getting married at East Wind, cocktail hour will start right after the ceremony, so we would wind up missing the whole thing, and then some! I was totally against it, but some of my BMs who have been in other weddings where this was done, said it was really nice. That only a select few got to witness the and seeing each other for the 1st time which made it extra special/intimate. I hope it will be! I would follow the advice of your photographer.
