Past vision of proposal vs how it actually happened?

As a young girl or young lady did you envision or dream about the way you would be prosed to? Did it happen that way or even come close?

Haha I'm the opposite - I got the down on one knee but it was in my bedroom!

Lucky for him at least they way he did it was special. (He made me a page in our scrapbook and tied the ring inside.)

hmmm never really pictured it... the only thing I knew I wanted was for it to special and be with a special person... He did it in a way I would have never tought ofand it was perfect!

-he proposed to me right before we went on a helicopter tour of NYC and then we went to dinner at tavern on the green where he pre-ordered a cake for us and it said 'to forever' on it. It was such a big surprise esp since I thought he didnt have anything left after the helicopter haha!

The proposal was awesome! We were on a cruise and it was our 3 year anniversary. He asked me in the formal dining room in front of everyone and he even got down on one knee.

The only thing that kinda took away the magic was that he ruined the surprise and told me he was going to ask me. We even went to pick out the ring together before we left. If he didn't spoil the surprise it would have been perfect!

I always imagined something really romantic. Maybe something like coming home to find candles everywhere. Or taking a walk at night somewhere and having it be a total surprise.

In reality, we were having a talk one night about something totally unrelated and it got brought up and he asked me, but it was almost more like a joint decision. Along the lines of:

'I want to be with you forever.'
'Really, you mean like get married?'
'Yeah, we should get married.'
'Ok!'
'Let's buy a ring next Friday.'
'Sounds good to me.'

It's kind of disapointing, but in the long run, it doesn't matter. We're going to be together forever and that's what counts.

i always pictured him saying a long speech, you know something really romantic like you see in the movies...but that didnt happen - i think he was too anxious and nervous when it happened - all he did was get down on one knee really quickly and said will you marry me really fast - it was kind of awkward - i just remember wanting to hug him forever though and i did for awhile before i put the ring on

LOL kinda sounds like ours

we were talking about getting married next year when he got home from this deployment noting serious yet just talking...
so one day i pulled up a calendar of 2009 to look at what days landed on saturdays. Joking around i turned to him and said ha ha 7-11 that would be silly he said yes it would and neither of us could forget it since they have our favorite coffee then he looks at me all serious and says LETS DO IT !!! so i look at him like he has 4 heads and say are you seriouse?
So he had gotten me a beautiful 3 stone aqua marine ring for christmas that we had just picked up 2 days before from being sized

and i had asked him if he wanted me to switch it over to my left hand as an engagement ring since i absolutly love it and it would be different... he says yes i know how much you love that ring... well he didn't have to tell me twice
WEll one day we were at the mall i was getting some jewlery cleaned and my daughter needed to use the bathroom so i brought her..... i came back to find him looking at diamonds so i walk ove and just say what are you doing? then he says to me well you are going to be going through a year of h e l l (he was going to be leaving for his deployment in a few days) and i want you to have a 'real' engagement ring because your worth it. awwwww he's such a sweet heart but i kept telling him i don't need anything else he was dead set on getting me another ring. we left that store and went to Jareds where we had picked up his wedding ring and started looking at rings for me well long story short the night before he left for deployment we picked out my ring a few days after I had went to pick up the ring from being sized just made it feel even more real at that point so now i wear both of these rings every day
As for the dream prposal well i always envisioned it as a sweet romantic on one knee at a special place but as you just read nothing like that has happened LOL but in our situation i guess it was as great as i could have ever asked for.

i always thought my guy would pour his heart out to me -- with a romantic proposal.

he hid my ring in an easter basket and i don't remember him saying 'will you marry me?' although he claims he did......but there was no pouring of affection. i was okay with that.

I always picture him proposing in a private place, just me and him and lots of rose petals, but the actual proposal was even better.
He took me Montauk, since I love lighthouses he really waned to propose on top, but the lighthouse didn't allow you to exit it, you could only peak out of it (does that make sense?) anyways that ruined his plan.lol. But then we were on the beach and he said he wrote me a poem and I was like awww and he told me to stand up and I said why I don't want to, so he started reading it to me and the last line was will you be my wife.? So in a way we were both on our knees. lol. And when we got home he had all my favorite food and my favorite movie waiting for me. It was perfect

Mine was exactly how I pictured it.....we met at my fav park and we walked along the path for a bit and then we went over and sat on a bench with no one around...and he did 'the long love speech' and then he got down on one knee and said 'Will you marry me?' and then I cried.

It was perfect

no pouring of affection here either - im not sure if he was to anxious and nervous because i could tell he was really nervous/anxious by the look on his face - or maybe he just didnt know thats what i would have wanted? you know a speech about how great i am

I always pictured something spectacular and romantic.

Truthfully, my proposal was spectacular and romantic-
He took me to Disney World and proposed at the wishing well next to Cinderellas castle- but he asked a guy that was with two couples to take a pic and and when the guy went to take the pic, my FH got down on his knee to propose. As soon as that happened the women from the two couples were screaming 'Oh my God! Oh my God! How cute!'
So it was hard to hear what my FH was saying.

Also-I think I was so overwhelmed that I didn't really get to take it all in. I was sort of almost numb while it was happening.

Mine was actually BETTER than what I had imagined and origionally wished for (I even hinted at it and told my FMIL what I hoped for)

My vision was the carraige ride in Central Park proposal in the snow... what really happened was a white horse drawn carraige in my driveway and a ride around my neighborhood- it was so much more personal and origional- people were coming out of thier houses to watch us go by- and our parents got to see it which was very important to both of us to have them be a part of it.

Definitely the most magical moment of my life to date...

Yeah, mine was suppossed to be on a cruise too, but a gf of mine blabbed about me thinkin it was gonna happen on the cruise so FH decided to surprise me like a week before we were goin on vacay... i got the 'will you marry me?' and down on 1 knee, but it happened in my kitchen in pjs...

not exactly what i had envisioned considerin the cruise woulda been totally different LOL

Lol I was in my PJs too! I think that was one of the first things I said!

I had always imagined this ELABORATE thing........like over the top....

I got down on the knee... with three roses.. one for the past present and gfuture.. and him telling me what the past was like without me.. the present with me... and how he cant picture going ahead with this future without me......

It was definitely more romantic... than a huge elaborate song and dance would have been.. because it was just US !

i was mad LOL... i was like 'here? now? i donty get a speech? thats not a real ring... this is all a joke... are you kiddin me?' i dont think i managed to get the word 'yes' out until like 10 mins later

I always imagined something extravagent and romantic.........but with FH I realized that he's not a big extravagent, romantic guy.

It was my Bday and he bought me a teddy bear that was holding a Bo-k. The ring was in the Bo-k. We were in our house and he did get down on one knee and ask me to marry him.

I was o.k with that.
