Re: Patken vs. North Island
I booked Patken. LOVE LOVE LOVE them
we sat with doug and he customized a package that was perfect for our needs and budget. He included more then I could have ever asked for. He also threw in some added stuff at no extra charge. 2 things that were very important to me were a colorization and an e-shoot. Patken offers the e-shoot and threw in the colorization for free (we negotiated)
They are really wonderful and you tell them what you want, your budget and you'll get it plus more.
I just recently met with Steve (who is my photographer) when I was with Jennbaby to pick up her thank you's and he was remarkable. he was extremely kind, caring and full of so many ideas. We talked a little about my day (even though its over a year away) and timelines. He gave me such wonderful suggestions.
I think they are definatly worth a visit.

Re: Patken vs. North Island
I can't comment on Patken, since I never met with them. I can tell you that NI does amazing work! Michael and Debbie are true artists, passionate about photography, and highly talented. They are not the typical wedding photographers, and do not offer packages per se, which may turn some people off. When I met with them, I felt the focus was on the pictures themselves, not package A B or C, which is what I was looking for. They are also very down to earth, genuinely nice people. Their price is on the higher end, but not outrageous (IMO). I don't think they themselves do video..... My experience with them so far is limited, but overwhelmingly positive. I had a good feeling about them the moment I met them, and I am 100% in my decision to book with them.
I would highly recommend meeting with them!

I second Wendy's view of North Island. I would tell what I feel, but it would be just about the same! Their work is amazing!

Re: Patken vs. North Island
I agree with Wendy as well - Michael and Debbie from North Island are true artists. The minute I met with them, my photographer search was over! If you haven't already, I would highly suggest making an appointment to meet with them. They are so calming and passionate about their work - you are surely to be won over!
