Paying for Makeup for BMs???

Paying for Makeup for BMs???

I asked all of my girls if they wanted to have their hair and makeup done for the wedding and they all said yes. I booked my makeup artist and got her for half price because she is the sister of one of my friends. Well now, all of my girls are freaking out over the price, saying it's too much. Mind you, I'm not asking them to buy traditional BMs dresses or anything. One of my girls is even wearing a dress she already has, which I think is great because it's an amazing dress and looks stunning on her. Sooo, my question is are you paying for your BMs hair and/or makeup? I was going to try to pay for their makeup as a surprise gift, but if I can't I don't want to drag this girl all the way to me for just my makeup. Plus I already told her all of the girls would be getting done.

I am not having any BM's , but I think it is reasonable to expect the girls to pay for themselves. I assume they all work, and asking you to pay for them seems........ Hm.... disrespectful & childish.. ( to put it midly). If they are not happy with your make up artist, let them choose whom ever they want.

Good luck!

The same thing happened to me. Once I told them the price they suddenly decided to do it themselves!! So I just called my m/u and hair artists and told them it's now just me and MOH. Neither artists were mad or upset.

I am not paying for hair and make-up. I spent 150 on each girl for jewelry, and I feel that is enough. I explained to them that I am having someone come to the house to do it, but they would have to pay....It gets way too $$$ giving a gift and paying for hair and make-up...

I don't plan on paying for their make-up or hair. I've been in a few wedding parties and I've never had the bride pay for me for hair or make-up. I do plan on spending about $75 - $100 per bridesmaid and a little more on my matron of honor for wedding gifts. I plan on buying them their day of jewelry and something personal to each of them.

I've mentioned to each of them what the cost is for my make-up artist to do their make-up and it does cost quite a bit so I gave them the option to get it done anywhere they want to.

I was going to pay for them to get their hair and makeup done, but then I chose not to. I asked them as a group which would they rather have as a gift from me to them and they all said a personal gift rather than me paying for them to get all done up on the day of. Go figure!

They are all getting their hair done that day, but some aren't getting makeup done. I don't really care either way. HTH

I am not paying for their makeup (or hair). I told them how much my m/u artist charges, and gave them the option. If they want it done, fine, if not, whatever. They're all pretty girls, and as long as they look good, I don't care who does their hair/mu.

if you were making them get their hair or makeup done then you should offer to pay. But if you are not requiring it, they should pay for it themselves if they want it done.

In all my times as a BM, only once did a bride pay for my hair & it was part of our gift from her.

Re: Paying for Makeup for BMs???

I originally told my BM's that if I decided that I wanted them to wear their hair up for the wedding, that I would pay for it to get done. However, I decided to let them wear their hair however they want (b/c I don't want to hear anyone complain oh my ears stick out, or I don't like my hair up off my neck...lol) so I'm not paying for it. And make-up is on their own if they want it done. I'd rather spend the extra money and get them all something nice. The only thing I am paying for is for my matron of honor to come with me the day before to get a manicure and pedicure.

I'm doing the same thing. If they decided they wanted it done, then they have to pay for it.

Re: Paying for Makeup for BMs???

I purchased cheap but nice BM jewelry for them..only $30 each so I could give them $50 each towards hair and makeup and alleviate some of their costs. On my wedding day I want us all to be together at my house in the morning getting our hair and makeup done so hopefully the extra money will give them the incentive to do both.

Nope, I won't be paying for their hair or makeup. I just don't think it's necessary for them to have it done because they're all beautiful girls and they all are good at doing their own makeup. For hair, I just want them to have it in very loose waves, nothing fancy and not overdone.

Now, if they wanted to use my MU artist to do their makeup, they are welcome to do so at their own cost.

no i feel like if u said yes to be in my wedding party, you should have known the costs thast would be incurred..>I also am no tmaking them use the person that I am using...but I don't think it is necessary to feel the need to pay for them

I am not paying for their makeup - I bought them their BM dresses along w/other little gifts. I told them all the price up-front and told them it was their decision and they all agreed to it.
