paying for the band's meals

paying for the band's meals

hey all-

i was told by a recent WM bride that WM actually does give the vendors food, and you don't have to buy a meal.

honestly, i'm not planning on paying for their meal anyway, since they only offered me a third off the price, which i think is crazy.

how do you all feel about paying for the vendors? to spend over $1000 to pay for food for people that you are already spending thousands on seems ludicrous.

answers/suggestions please!

ETA: well, my dilemma is solved!

i just booked the times square orchestra and he said to absolutely not pay for their meals because it is a waste of money. he said they are allowed to eat at the cocktail hour, and they don't need me paying a lot of money for their food. so that saves me a lot of $$$$$$!!! yeah!!!!

he said this to me without me even asking! i suggest you all flat out ask before you pay $500 for your band's meals.

We are paying for the bands meals as well as all of my other vendors. My BM at WM is charging us less to feed them..

We paid for our bands meals. I rather have content musicians - and since it is so common now - it is expected. The band in my opinion has a lot of control over how fun a wedding is. Yeah it is frustrating that we had to pay for it - but doesnt everything in the wedding industry royally stink money wise?

most halls offer vendor meals that are significanly less. 1/3 off sounds kind of stingy. you should ask to see if you can lower the price if you limit their options. usually just a sandwich is fine. they don't really have time for more than that. but you should feed them, even left over cocktail hour food.

can you ask your hall to do that? just put together dishes of the cocktail hour food? they shouldn't charge you that much more for that.

our vendor meals are $30 each.

We paid for our vendors to eat...i dont' think it's fair to ask them to come to an, at minimum, 5 hour event, and not at least give them something to eat.

we are paying half price, the vendors that will be at the hall will be there either from 3pm or from 6:30pm till 1am when the reception ends, they need to eat!

My band did the same thing. I flat out asked if they expected to be fed and the band leader told me that they usually nibble at cocktail hour but if I let them know I won't be serving them dinner, they'll be sure to EAT at cocktail hour and it's not a problem at all. He assured me that many people nowadays ask the band to eat at cocktail hour.

We paid 1/2 price. I think it's only right to take care of them. They are human beings.

I know different places have different rules, if you have it at Woodbury Country Club and pick a band that's not on their vendor list, the meal is full price.
