Re: Paying for wedding yourselves?
We're paying for everything ourselves --- it all adds up but so far we're not too off from our budget (which isn't close to 50K -- goodluck to you ladies!!!)

no 50k, but close to it and we're def doing it alone. but the way we see it, this is the ONLY event that will be about us, because after this is prob going to be a baby shower, kids bdays, all that good stuff.

Re: Paying for wedding yourselves?
We bought our house first so we didn't go overboard on the wedding. LEt me tell you if you think wedding planning is stressful wait until you buy a house and do renovations. Lol.
My mom paid for my dress other than that - this is on us! I'm proud though.

Same here - we had to set up a strict budget after getting the apartment and buying the house things. Ditto on the proud thing and congrats to you two!

Re: Paying for wedding yourselves?
Yup, its just me and the FH forking the bill. FMIL is donating $1000 for the dj which is great but we have to pay the rest. And my mom volunteered to help pay for my dress but I don't want to put that type of stress on her. So its me, FH and a expense spreadsheet on our way to the alter!

ITA! I remind my FH everyday that this is the one time we can celebrate just us and not us and our kids etc. So its definitely worth the sacrifice!

We are in your boat, but increased our budget to $60k. Today, just in case all 250 guest say yes, we have to be able to afford having them there. This way we also have wiggle room on other items too.

Re: Paying for wedding yourselves?
We had been talking about it, but FH got laid off about a year and a half ago and left DC to attend grad school full time. So our rents chipped in, and we were going to add onto it- but now our rents money will finance the whole wedding, and we will pay for the honeymoon.

Re: Paying for wedding yourselves?
me and fh are paying it by ourselves one pay check at a time. our budget cap with everything is 60k and hopefully we will come in lower right now we are at 44k (didnt add in new receiptswhich is probably another 2-3)
