paying for the majority of it ourselves but we were on the same page from the beginning, only our closest family and friends will be invited.....and we're probably going to be fine with paying for it...

Not quite 50 but 40 on our own feels like a lot! Tonight my mom asked me how much we were spending and she acted like I was crazy spending so much. She has no idea how much wedding things cost!

We bought our house first so we didn't go overboard on the wedding. LEt me tell you if you think wedding planning is stressful wait until you buy a house and do renovations. Lol.

We did that too. Yes, we are paying for everything ourselves. My motto is get all the basic first and if there is money at the end then upgrade.

FH and I are paying for the wedding ourselves as well - though that's how we wanted it. My mom is paying for my dress, accesories, makeup and hair for the day of because she said that she wants to. But besides that, everything else is on us.

We got a small amount of help. Even with that help we aren't having a 50k wedding. It's so not worth it. I know a lot of brides that spent a lot say it was worth it right after, but what about 10 yrs later, when they are really strapped for cash with things that actually matter, like their mortgage, car payments and repairs, and the tons of things you need to pay for when you have kids. Then they are saying, hmmm, I wish I had more money right now. If you don't have it, don't spend it. (which is a lesson I still am learning as I put myself into CC debt with nothing but everyday things) There really is no need to have a super expensive wedding. It can be done for cheaper. There are needs and wants, you have to distinguish the two. I have been desperately trying not to be distracted by the bright and shiny objects. I can't afford to.

Nope...
Sorry
We decided there was no point on spending more money than we could afford....
We thought it would b better to make a Bigger downpayment towards the house than our wedding.. so we are spending aorun $15,000...

We are paying for the wedding ourselves or budget is 20,000. I'm hoping we don't go over. Even that is more than I wanted to spend for a day. Certain things and people couldn't be cut out.

ITA!! And find the best deals ever! Thats my motto! Dont go with the first offer or the first vendor. Do ur research and see what you really need and what you dont need. I keep an expense report of everything I spend to make sure I keep in budget.

we're paying the whole wedding by ourselves too there are times that we really struggle but then I think about how wonderful is that the wedding is gonna be about our ideas only and not our parents
