Any PCOS brides out there trying to lose some lovely PCOS weight before the big day? I'm back on Metformin but I just don't know where to start or what to do. Went to the gym this week and I'm trying to eat right but I don't know if I'm eating the right foods. Any advice is appreciated!

Re: PCOS Brides
I hear ya!! I have PCOS and it is a real pain in the you know what. My endo said stay away from sugar and carbs. I think she said my carb intake should be around 60 grams per day. She said even though fruit is very good for you; I should stick to one small fruit a day. Carbs and sugar make us produce more male hormones. I tried metformin for a day and my stomach felt like it was in knots... do you have any side effects? Does it help with the weight?

Re: PCOS Brides
well when this all started a few years ago i had really great health insurance and i was able to go to a top notch endo and get lots of blood work...he and my gyno decided i needed to go on yaz and metformin to normalize my crappy body chemistry...i lost about 45 pounds...then i lost my health insurance and had to stop taking both medications...the weight started slowly packing on, the symptoms returned...now yaz has a lawsuit against it, but im back on the metformin...i react pretty well to it. its messes with my stomach but not unbearably...i just dont know if it will have the same effect now without the yaz...i was taking a boatload of vitamin supplements but i got lazy about it...endo said once that folic acid and b12 might help...its just really hard to get it straightened out

Do you guys like your endo? I haven't found one I like and of course any that anyone ever recommends 'isn't accepting new patients'. Very frustrating!

Re: PCOS Brides
my endo was amazing, but unfortunately i can't see him anymore because he doesn't take my new insurance...i have yet to find another one, and frankly, i've been to so many doctors and gotten so much bloodwork done this year that i really don't want to add more onto my insurance...but i really loved my endo, he was amazing and it took about 10 seconds for him to diagnose what all my other doctors had been trying to figure out since i was 20. and funny thing is, looking back, i can see symptoms since i was 11! ill FM you his info, really amazing guy, i hope you can get in to see him :)

I have an amazing endo and I am very picky with doctors. FM me if you need info; she is in Smithtown. She is the type of doctor that doesn't make you waiting for a hour and she even called me the night she got back from vacation bc I was having an issue with my medication I just started.
