Tell me why everyone FH works with is telling him not to get married. He tells me people are saying this to him all the time. He says is really discouraging because everyone is telling him that they got divorced, can't stand their spouses, whatever. He told me tells them he knows he got a good one. But still, it is so rude with just over a week to the wedding to be telling someone not to get married. What is he supposed to say, 'Yeah you're right, let me call her and tell her its off?'

My FH has been hearing that a lot recently too, he's been told I'm going to 'change completely' once we're married. He doesn't believe it but, he's been getting an earful.

i know how you feel! Lately a few people have been telling my FH not to get married. But these people are the one's recently going through a divorce and their wives are taking them for everything they're worth. Can you say bitter?

Oh dear...yes, when we got engaged last year FH worked at this firm and everyone was all 'break it off' to him...he couldn't believe it! 'I hate her.' 'I work these long hours so that when I go home she's already asleep so I don't have to look at her.' all things he heard!!

yeah, he's been hearing that 'change completely' line too. I think they've also been telling him that we are not going to have sex once we are married too, cause he asked me the other day about that. Sorry if thats TMI

WOW!!! My FH too. People at his job are constantly telling him not to get married and how they can't stand their wives anymore. IMO though I think all guys talk like this when they get together.

People were even telling me that when we first got engaged, including women. I couldn't beleive it!!! I don't think anyone's said it to FH, or at least he hasn't told me so.

I agree. Women have a million and one details to talk about. Men? The Bachelor party and teasing the groom about marriage.
Two people IN MY OWN FAMILY asked my FH if he was having second thoughts. My hero turned to them and said, 'Absolutely not. And if you were marrying someone like Trish, you wouldn't either.'
They were kidding (my family has a dry sense of humor) but it took me a while to 'get it'.
Men. They're lucky we even consider marrying them.

My soon-to-be ex-boss told me to rethink getting married. Some people are just miserable so they try to project that onto others. Don't worry about it.
As far as changing after marriage, well I'm sure it happens to some people and not to others. My DH knew my true personality, my finnicky likes and dislikes, and I knew his personality. Granted we've also known each other for quite a while, so we each knew what we were bargaining for, both with the good aspects of our personalities and the bad.

Tell those people to keep thier misery to themselves. My FH's best friend was telling us to save ourselves the life sentence. He's a whack job, though. He works all week in the city, then goes out whenever he wants on weekends, leaving his wife home with the baby.

Lauren!!!! People are as*holes sometimes!! People at work (mainly men) tell me this all the time b/c they're 2-3 times divorced and it pisses my FH off. As long as he keeps telling all them that he found a keeper and that he loves you, you have nothing to worry about!

That's so mean.....and odd, everyone told DH that he was so lucky to be marrying me.
Even his @ss friend who tried to get DH a HOOKER the night before the wedding. UM. DH was like 'uh, no thanks!'
