PEOPLE dont understand . . . UPDATE

Original post by FutureMrs.T

One of my friends just sent me an IM that said 'I cant make it to your shower, I will be in Florida'

My response was 'Shhh...dont tell me, its a surprise'

Her response: 'oops sorry'

My response :'I have totally been trying to figure out when it is, but my MOH wants it to be a surprise, I respect that, so please dont tell me''

Her Response: 'Well I will at least tell you its between September 15th and September 29th'

What the heck...what part of dont tell me dont you understand....now I know it is either next weekend or the weekend after that! Sooo infuriating!

* * *

Update - so I told her that I was bummed that she narrowed it down to two weekends for me and I know which weekend it isnt because I am going away and have plans all weekend. I said I am totally bad at lying and my family will totally see through my fake surprise.

Her response: 'I am sure you would have found out anyway and you would have had to fake it'

My response......nothing......so mad!

i dont know, it kind of seemed like you were fishing for some info.....so cut your friend some slack - she didnt tell you exactly when it is but she did give you something - which it seemed like you wanted since you said you were trying so hard to figure it out.....if you really dont want to know anything i think its best not to say anything about it at all - i learned my lesson when it comes to talking about it

But I told her that is was a surprise adn that I respected my sisters wishes.......it was just wrong.

I would respond back (not really, I'm all talk).

'Well, thank you for ruining the surprise anyway. I'm sorry you won't be there to see the look of disappointment on the BPs face when they realize I wasn't surprised.'

AZZ

ETA: And don't worry, my shower was supossed to be a surprise too but I figured it out. Regardless, you will still be surprised by how excited everyone is for you when you walk in and you will still be surprised at the people who showed up and are there to support you. That's the surprise that matters.

Her response is so lame. I'm so sorry

As an aside - because of all the issues girls on here have had with people ruining the surprise (honestly, don't you all just ASSUME a bridal shower is a surprise??? I know some aren't, but the large majority are ... ), I asked my sister months ago to make sure 'SURPRISE' was on the invite since I didn't want anyone slipping. Because of this, she said, it is mispelled on the invite because it was almost ready to be printed when I asked and she added it really quickly.

Wow. She sounds like she deliberately tried to ruin it. Like its not a big deal. I would be so upset with her. People can be so selfish.

Is she married yet ? If not... just plan to return the favor when her time comes... or better yet... give her a phony weekend well in advance of the real date and she'll be all pumped up for her shower.. and nothing. That's bad of me to think that way. Oh well.
