TAMPA, Fla. -- Police in Florida are looking for a couple accused of torturing five children by pulling out their toenails, shocking them and hitting them with a hammer.
John and Linda Dollar, who live about 70 miles north of Tampa, are wanted on felony charges of aggravated child abuse. A state official said the Dollars aren't the children's parents. A Citrus County sheriff's spokeswoman said the youngsters were kept like prisoners.
They were removed from the home last month. Three were malnourished, including 14-year-old twin brothers who each weighed about 37 pounds. A 16-year-old boy weighing less than 60 pounds had head and neck injuries. Sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Tierney said some are missing toenails and were also tortured by electric shocks and being hit with a hammer.
