Are any of you going to get your armpits waxed for the big day? Have you ever done it in the past? I'm afraid it might be so painful but I don't want to worry about anything on that day....what do you think?

Re: Personal Question....
Just the thought of it is making me squirm, so that would be a big NO for me!! But then again, the thought of getting my bikini area waxed also makes me squirm, so I'm too chicken to do that too!!

No way, I'm used to shaving, and the mere thoghts of it...Anyway, who will be so close to my armpits that they'll notice whenther they were shaved or waxed??

Re: Personal Question....
I agree -- I get a brazilian bikini wax regularly -- but armpits seem like a lot of pain & aggrivation for little payoff. I got to say though -- I got the Venus razor and it really makes a difference! It's a triple blade - my FI loved his triple blade and I understand why. It really does shave you close and I can feel the difference on my legs (I generally don't 'feel' my armpits - but they look fine to me ) Anyway - it costs a little more (about $7 with one replacement blade -- cheaper at BJ's wholesale club) but I thinkit's worth it.

Re: Personal Question....
I got my underarms waxed once ....... ONCE. Holy s@#t!! It was the worst mistake I've ever made. It hurt worse than I could ever imagine, and I had a terrible reaction. I get my bikini and eyebrows waxed regularly and I used the same girl, but I was not prepared for the armpit disaster! So, no, I won't do it again.

Re: Personal Question....
If you have a sleaveless dress I would get the pits waxed...its not bad...and no stubble
If you go to a good place with good wax...it will not hurt that much...even try t tweezer...believe it or not, if you go in the direction of the hair...it will not hurt...

Re: Personal Question....
I think everyone must be different. I've had a bunch of waxing done, and I would say my eyebrows hurt the worst
The idea of not having to shave while on my honeymoon is sooo worth a little pain. I would try it, but leave enough time in between when you have it done and your wedding.
Good luck- Jen

Re: Personal Question....
I am going to torture myself and have my under arms waxed. My dress is strapless and when I shave, since my hair is dark, you can see it under the surface of my skin. I want it to look perfect . I have had it done a couple of times before, and I think eyebrows are worse!! If you are going to have ANYTHING waxed don't wait till the last minute. You need some time for the skin to calm down.

Re: Personal Question....
I got my armpits waxed for my wedding in June. I did it 6 months before as well to make sure I wouldn't have a bad reaction. It lasted the whole honeymoon which was fabulous, and I don't remember it hurting -- certainly no where near as much as my ankles felt. hehe. Either way, the pain from waxing is quick if you go to a good person. I think its definately worth it!

Re: Personal Question....
I want to get my armpits waxed as well. How far in advance? Two weeks?

Re: Personal Question....
I did mine on Wednesday night with a Sunday wedding. One week before is probably ideal.

Re: Personal Question....
I am going two weeks before. That makes it next week!!! I hate the growing out part, maybe I can go earlier. Feels awful, can't believe I can't wait to wax!

Re: Personal Question....
I actually work in a salon where I do waxing. I wouldn't do it 2 weeks before your wedding because some hair might grow back by then. The average a waxing lasts is 2-4 weeks. The hair under your arms is usually a thicker hair which makes it grow back faster. I'd say a Wed. before a Sat wedding is ideal. Let me know if you have anymore questions. PS take a aspirin about a hour before your appointment and that will help with the pain.

Re: Personal Question....
6/21/03---> I have another question: How long does the hair have to be when I get my armpits waxed? (that is going to be a horrible sight!)

Re: Personal Question....
The hair should be at least 1/4 of a inch or longer, but not that much longer. If the hair is much longer than that, it might break off rather than get pulled out by the root.
