personality/choice of wedding gown
Hi.Last week you guys were kind enough to convince me to keep my dress, thanks again.
My question is did any of you allow your personalties to dictate your choice of gown?
I usually wear slinky form fitting clothing, so when I went looking for a gown, I wanted something totally the opposite of what I am. I wanted people to see me in a totally different light.

Re: personality/choice of wedding gown
I went with a strapless dress which is the opposite from anything anyone would think I would get, they all think I am more conservative than that!

Re: personality/choice of wedding gown
Mine is very simple which is who I am. Low maintenance all the way!!! You have to get a dress that you love for whatever reason and that you will be comfortable in all day!

Re: personality/choice of wedding gown
Sort of...I couldnt imagine myself in a ballgown because that was going to be way to hard to get around in for me so I went with an Aline. Same thing with a train - way too much hassle for me to have fun in. So I guess that is part of my personality and part of why I choose my dress.

Re: personality/choice of wedding gown
Not me.I'm usually pretty trendy and I prefer my clothing form fitting yet elegant.
I had always imagined myself in a sheath style gown, very simple, urban chic...minimal beading...
tried on a ballgown and I was HOOKED
must by my alter ego or something. My gown is HUGE and totally the opposite of what I wanted. Lots of embroidery and lots of detail, not at all 'simple'

Re: personality/choice of wedding gown
Yeah, I think my gown fits my personality.Hmm, how do I describe my personality...I tend to like things that nobody else has. I don't want what's trendy or popular. I want what nobody else has seen. Fortunately, the designer of my gown doesn't advertise and many people haven't heard of him. Just the way I like it!
I like to be different without being exaggerated. I think my dress qualifies, since it's not white or ivory, but blush in color and the capelet is a bit unique. I won't being wearing a veil either.
Oh, and I do tendy to like 'sparkly' things and my dress is definitely embellished with 'sparkly' things.

Re: personality/choice of wedding gown
I don't know... Here's the thing. There have been many dresses I tried on that are SO me and It was pretty, but simple. I don't nec. want to be simple on my wedding day. I want to shine and be pretty and have people see the me I could be if I were high maintanance. Probably not making much sense but in the end... strapless, crystals, ballgown...

Re: personality/choice of wedding gown
I tend to dress rather trendy and definitely like the way strapless dresses look on me. I tried on this platinum colored Richard Tyler strapless, slinky gown with satin flowers all over it (hard to explain), very couture-looking which both my mother and MOH thought I would buy in a second. I wound up with something much more classic - plain, strapless, A-line (almost straight) with just a little bow at the waist and nothing more. In the end I just felt like I would rather look timeless pretty on my wedding day than very trendy!

Re: personality/choice of wedding gown
Makes total sense sept20yay!My first gown was very plain & simple- totally me. But it didn't feel very 'special'. I kept looking and am so glad I did b/c I found the dress that made me say 'hello bride'! Crystals, flowers and a train!

Re: personality/choice of wedding gown
Get the dress that makes you feel special and beautiful. I think the right gown makes you feel that way and doesn't necesarily have to be what you normally wear. Who normally wears a wedding gown? For many of us, it is a one time deal so it should make you feel special. Doesn't matter if it is trendy, plain, sparkly or poofy. The dress that makes you feel great will make you sparkle and stand out all night! My dress totally made me feel that way and I am not one that normally wants attention or wants people to make me feel special. My dress just made me feel pretty and happy!
