Pet Hair Solutions

if you have pets, how do you handle the hair?! I have a beige sectional and 2 black cats -- if I don't keep up with it every day, it gets out of control!!!

any tips?

My dog doesn't shed so I haven't tried this, but I saw on a 'helpful hints' show that if you put a dishwashing glove on your hand and run it over the furniture the pet hair will ball up so you can just pick up the clump and throw it out.

I have a black cat too, but I have leather couches
I have problems with his blanket that he sleeps on, so Im washing that every week.

I think keeping up with their brishing will help...my cat locves to be brushed so its not a problem...she also is deaf so she loves to be vaccuumed...since the noise doesn't bother her...

I do have something called the 'Love Glove' you put it on and pet them...

maybe that would be like the dishglove too? maybe you could use it on the couch?

Erica...I have tried EVERYTHING to try to brush my cat. He always bites the brush, or I will trich him, but he knows when I have the brush. It is like a game.
I will have to try that glove.

I originally bought the glove for the dog (since the cat has a normal brush), but when the cat sees me brushing the dog...she pushes him out of the way...lol

We have two black cats also. We use the lint rollers every day on the furniture. I know they climb up on the couch when we aren't home. (I can tell by the hair on the couch.)
Those things work great. You just peel off each layer of sticky tape until it runs out and then you just get the refills.

we're talking about getting a dog after new year's & this is the part i am dreading. we were just talking about it today- how we're going to keep up with cleaning & the hair & all that.

I have always had dogs but now we have two cats. I swear these cats shed more than any dog.
Maybe thats because with a dog, you can just vacuum a few times a week and keep things clean. With the cats we have to vacuum and use the lint rollers on the furniture every day. The cats obviously sleep on the couch when we aren't around.

Re: Pet Hair Solutions

Spel, there are many breeds of dog that shed little or no hair. My DH agreed to a dog on the condition that it be one of those breeds.

Here's a site that lists non or light shedders...

Re: Pet Hair Solutions

bostons aren't on that list...but our dog barely sheds...or maybe since he has really short hair...we dont notice

we have a siamese cat...and while if I pet her or brush her the hair comes off...she doesn't really 'shed' too much on her own...

What JennRenee said about the glove REALLY works!!!! I had a dining room set with black upholstered chairs and 2 white cats ..it worked great. It's like the hair just came right off.
