Photo location near The Riviera

Photo location near The Riviera

Need your help...

Trying to find a place near the Riviera (Massapequa - no more than 15 mins away) for photos. We were originally planning on Old Westbury Gardens, but time is restricted, so that's out.

Last night decided on just using the Riviera and their grounds for all our shots, but would like to have another option of something 'Different'.

Any ideas?

TIA

we were originally going to do the Nunleys Carousel, but they had something else booked on our day. Now we are looking at Chelsea Mansion and Clark Botanical Gardens. If you find anything good, let me know

ETA there is a cute park down the road on Merrick Rd, I can't remember the name of it, but that might be our backup option!

Re: Photo location near The Riviera

I am actually going with my MOH next weekend to scout out some places for photos. I was originally thinking Queens County Farms but someone is booked there that day so that's out.

I heard there is a park on Shore drive if you keep driving past the Riviera, so I'm going to check that out. I'm also going to check out Arglye Park and then just drive around to what we find.

ETA: i have the same feelings as you. We could just use the grounds but I wanted something different with the BP. We will be taking family pictures at the Riviera.

you know i was thinking about Nunley's as an option. I looked on the website for them and it says that the hours of operation for Saturday are til 5:00pm. We most likely won't be getting there until that time. Do you think they would stay open for pictures? Was there a site fee?

FH and I drove down that way once a couple months ago and the 'park' that is there isn't all that great. It is on the water which is a nice touch but the 'grounds' really aren't that. It's more of a picnic/playground type thing and there is no real parking lot. Totally check it out - but I just wanted to give you the heads up beore you go.

yeah I figured that's what it was because I didn't a google map search for it and did street view and it looked like there was nothing there! I'll check it out regardless but if it's like what I saw than that's definitely a no.

Where are you planning on doing pics?

We have gone back and forth about this - I have looked into a bunch of places but REFUSE to pay anything - I just think thats so silly.

We are going to look into Pearsall Park in Amityville - it's not far from the Riviera and some other LIW brides have taken pics there (search for the name). I looks pretty in the pics but we need to check it out in person.

what about Florence Avenue Beach in Massapqua? its not a real beach like jones, the sand is more rocky like a bay and there are swings that could be cute for pics

So they told us that we could have the area from 3:30-5, but that we could only use the inside carousel part from 4:30 to 5, which for me wasn't really enough time. I'm not sure if they would stay open, but if you want their contact info I can FM it to you. I've been dealing with a nice girl named Andrea. The site fee was $250 for just indoor, and $350 for indoor/outdoor, which I also thought was a little steep for what it is.

ekkkkk - wasn't looking to spend that much on the site fee. Thanks for letting me know!

I've been looking at pics from Pearsall Park and that's a pretty nice location and only like 10 mins from the Riviera. Definitely going to check that out next weekend. I literally have a google map going with all the spots to hit up LOL

if you drive down merrick rd about 10 mins you get into babylon village and there is Argyle park, you can take some pics by the water falls and the lake.

We had our engagement shoot at Argyle. I love it there. Just don't know if we want to do the same thing for the wedding.

I'll be driving around massapequa and the surrounding towns with my camera this weekend!

Re: Photo location near The Riviera

There is actually a really nice, small park right close by in Amityville. We live right in Lindenhurst and pass by it all the time. Its on the corner of Merrick Road/Montauk Highway and Ocean Avenue. It's just east of Route 110. If you put 1 Ocean Avenue, Amityville into google maps, it comes up and you can look at a few pictures of it too.

Our Church is in Copiague, so this park is right on the way to Riviera so we are hoping to stop there for photos.

It actually looks like like it might be private when you drive by because there is a pretty big old house right next to it, but it's def a public park that the Chamber of Commerce takes care of. We checked. There is even a small parking lot there too.

Its right on the canal and has a bulkhead with benches on the water, a large gazebo, lots of grassy hills and paver walk ways. There are two pergolas and tons of flowers in the spring and summer.

Its only about a 5 minute drive from Riviera.

There's Bethpage State Park where I did my engagement photos. I live in Massapequa Park and walked to the park to do my engagement photos (very very close to The Rivieria). The park goes from Bethpage golf course all the way down to Merrick Road and to the water.
