Photographer Advice

What are some ideas on price and who did you guys go with. I got a quote today and I am not sure he is reasomable. We arent having albums but that shouldnt matter.

I just went through the whole photography thing, and I couldn't believe how expensive they ALL were. Without albums should save you a ton of money. That is really seeming to be the most expensive thing- we are getting an album, but not getting parent albums saves about 800 dollars!!! So not getting a wedding album should be a significant savings.
I visited with Hal Lyman, VIP, Patken, Imagine, VIsual Concepts, and Karen Marie. There was a big range.. I think you can get something with VIP for about 1500 without albums.. I would just call around and ask for quotes. Say they were recommended by this board, and you wanted a quote w/o albums before you come in to see their work! Good luck!!!

we went with Grey Studios. We got albums and a whole package for about $3400.

p&a.... I'm thinking about booking Gray as well, but I don't know anyone who's had them at their wedding. Were you recommended by someone?

Prices on photographers run the gammut, some being incredibly high. You should be able to get a decent package, with album and proofs for around $2500-$3000. I find this to be on average for LI. The more you get, obviously, the higher the cost. What were you quoted and for what. It might give us a better idea if it's reasonable.

Edited to add-Without albums (and I am doing my own album too), I would say you should be able to find a good photogapher anywhere from $1200-$2000

We booked with Mark Kauffman/Angelica Studios. They are a bit expensive but we are getting our album, parent albums, thank you's. Mark is great to work with so I would give them a call and find out what prices they quote for a package with no albums.

I went to Tony Ferrari's Photographers. I am paying $5,000. We are getting a lot included in our Package. we're getting 3 large portraits, 3 albums plus one more at no extra cost. 150 thank you's. They also do video so the price includes that as well, and we get 2 videos and a CD.

He's expensive i know but hey he is the best photographer in my neighborhood. I'd rather have perfection becuase sometimes the less you pay the poorer service you get but that's just the way I see it, we all have our opinions. I've seen his work, i've been in bridal parties where he's been the photographer, he's very professional and always has to have to perfect pose. My family has known him for years. He did my communion pictures when I was a little girl so he's been in this business for a lot of years.
