Photographer AND videographer?

Do you think it's ok to get a photographer and videographer from the same place? Or should they be different vendors? Also, has anyone had or booked Glenmar Studios?

I was wondering the same thing and so far the feedback has been that it is a scam that photographers pull because you are under the impression they know video, when it isnt what they do. Supposedly they hire outside videographers who dont have a booking for the day and couldnt care less about the product unlike a video only studio. I went to see my photographers video anyway but it didnt compare to the video only places I also went to.

From what my FI and I saw, and from what I've heard... You should get them seperately. Usually when a photographer offers video, it's to make an extra buck, not all the time, but most of the time. Don't rule out one or the other, but definitely look at both at least at a couple of places, and you'll see a difference in quality, talent, etc. When you get an actual Videography company, more effort is put into it. It comes out so much nicer. Now this is only our opinion... everyone likes different things, so you just have to check them out for yourselves. Let me know what you think! Good luck!

i am booking them seperately. i can't see how they can be so talented in both lol. i mean i am sure it can be dont with if someone is a photographer, they are that, not a video guy too!

We booked photography and video with the same studio (Cassarino). We saw the sample video, we liked it, so this was easier for us. If we had not been satisfied with the video we saw, I guess we would have looked elsewhere.

In general, its best to use vendors that make the whole living on the one skill they know best. Videographers can only stay in business if they have enough people who like their work, a photographers' video business can go on forever without a single happy customer since the photographer is supporting the business.

Doesn't mean that a photographers video CANT be good but I like to hire specialists.

There was a point my photographer brought up though. He said that the same 3 guys he hires all the time for video know how to work well with the photographer and dont get in the way. He said that video places dont tell us they have to be at least 10 feet away at all times to get a good shot and end up hindering some of the wide shots the photographer may be looking to take. I'm not sure how this really works, I emailed a potential videographer to ask. I'll let you know what they say.

We are using the same place for photo and video. Some times there are draw backs to this. I judged both vendors on their merit. I was hesitant at first but then we saw both people's work and we are comfortable with our decision. The one definite advantage in our case is that they are a husband and wife team and he knows how she works and he will not get in her way. They travel together so the likelyhood of either missing something is slimmer. We are very comfortable with this choice.

I'm using Duval in Wantagh for both. $3900 for a pretty decent photo pkg. and a fully edited video with baby and honeymoon pics and a DVD. We saw a sample video and it was very good.

I booked Glenmar Studios for photographs. They did put a quote on my contract for an edited and unedited video, but I'm still thinking about it. I'm thinking of making an appointment to see their video and ask them some questions about it.

I've heard that a videographer company should do better work that a video from a photography studio. I guess you have to some samples first before making that call.

From my, and my friends experience, you should book the same place for both, IF THE STUDIO DOES THEIR OWN SHOOTING AND EDITING. If they farm it out to another company, then I would stay away. We booked Daniel Krieger photography and Video Productions inc.
One reason we booked them for both is because of Dans's involvement in the local and national video associations. His studio emplyees know both Photography and Videography. Dan's son shoots the video and they edit the video on premise. Each knows what the other needs to get and they work together seamlessly.
At my girfriend Lauren's wedding we did not even know the video was there, yet the final product looked like something from the movies. She was more than pleased. Just my 2 cents.
