I need to make a decision between Steve from Patken or John from VIP. Any suggestions? Please let me know your opinions asap.

VIP too
I am very happy with my choice... I also found out that he used to work for Mark Kaufman...(but it might just be hearsay) He offers a lot and has quality work...

Did you also use the VIP videographer and if so would you recommend him/her?

Steve from Patken!!!
we looked at a bunch of photographers including Patken and VIP..i thought Steve blew away John from VIP..more professional, creative, organized etc. VIP was alittle less expensive but we chose Steve and are super excited about our choice!!! Its a well known, reputable company with a very well trained staff. Good Luck :)

VIP Videography
Yes I used VIP for video as well and was very pleased. I didn't want anything elaborate but it had nice graphics/animations and overall I was happy with the video. They all stayed the whole night.

PATKEN WITHOUT A DOUBT
It was a tough descison, we looked at about 15 photographers. We went with Doug even though he was alot more expensive than anyone else. He told us Steve is his best friend and he trained him. I am sure you can't go wrong. They are very professional, we have called many times and always been helped promptly. Good luck.

Thanks stef28, I think we are going to use them. Did you meet with the videographer before the wedding?

Actually I didn't meet with him. I really left the video as one of my things that I wouldn't worry about too much. But I would definitely suggest that you do meet with him. I saw a sample tape when I met with John from VIP and really liked it.

I met with both..
I really got a good vibe from John at VIP...I didn't meet with any photographers from Patken, but after looking at their work, had a good feeling about them too. We went with VIP because they offered more for the money, and they offer 2 photographers (color and b/w), where Patken was only offering one. And in my opinion, it's a lot easier to miss a great shot with one photographer. I think it's really a matter of opinion - good luck to you and let us know what you decide.Welcome New Vendors
