I found a photographer I really like, but she was the first one we saw, and we've only seen one other one. I asked her to let me know if anyone else comes to her with the same date, so we could make a decision and she agreed. Well, yesterday she informed me that someone's meeting with her this Sat for the same date as me. I'm just not sure whether we should book her or keep looking, I like to see lots of vendors before making my decision, but I'm afraid that if I don't book her I won't find anyone else I like as much. I really liked her work and her personality. Anyway, this is her package, is this a good deal? Or should more be included? I've only seen one other, that was more expensive than her, so I dont know.
$4950 (without tax) - Cover for 10 hours - Assistant/2nd photographer -3 proof DVDs - (1) 11x14 - (2) 8x10 - (3) 5x7 - (1) 15 page 11x 14 hand bound album - (2) 5 page parent albums
What do you girls think?
Edited to clarify, when I say page for an album, I meant 2 sides. Some photographer call it sides some pages, so some would call the parent albums 10 page, but I count both sides to equal one page. If this makes sense.

Re: Photographer question (kind of long)
I'm not an authority - so someone please help... but what strikes me is that when i looked at two places, it was a bit less for similar... your parent albums are only 5 pages! Is the Assistant also going to be shooting then too? Or is that 2 people, because I've seen places with an assistant and then a second photog. in addition. And your book is only 15 pages, and again, I've seen bigger than that.
But someone who actually HAS booked a photog... help. I think I got quoted something similar a month or so ago that was at least 1,000 less, if not more. and that had an asst. and a photog.

Re: Photographer question (kind of long)
5 pages seems too little for parent albums. and i personally think you will need 30 pages for your own album.
if you dont mind me asking...who is the photographer?

You have fm.
I thought that the albums were a little small too. I guess I can try to get her to throw more pages into the album.

no offensive, thats a horrible package. No video either. I booked Patken, and got a WHOLE lot more for $5000 including video. Keep looking. Have you looked at the below places. People rave about them

I would be concerened with 'proof dvds' You'll want to ensure that you get high resolution files, so you can get reprints at a low price (or put together your own online album). Only viewing proofs digitally, can be tricky because things look different on screen compared to when you print them on photo paper.

JMHO, i think it really depends on who the photographer is.
Also, I agree with the above poster. you really want to make sure that you get hi-res images so that you can reprint them.

Re: Photographer question (kind of long)
The thing is I am getting more then that plus the video for $4900...I have the exact list of what I am getting at home....
The parent's albums though are very little...I am getting 24 I believe for the parents...
Does this include an engagement shoot??? But again, if you really like her, then I would book her...It is all depending on what you want..I just think price wise, it is not a good deal!

I agree - it really depends on the photograpgher. if you love her and want to spend that $ then just book her! i dont think its really possible to compare your package to others if her quality is much better. jmo

Re: Photographer question (kind of long)
Why dont you make some appointments to meet with other photogs during this week, that way by Sat you will be able to make a better decision... i saw all of my photogs in one week... we did one each night of the week... i highly doubt the people meeting with her this sat will book her on the spot... booking a photog on the spot in my opinion is usually rare... most couples need some time to think it over and look at other companies...
I also agree with everyone else's opinion... that package does seem a bit expensive...i think you can get a whole lot more from excellent photogs even without having to pay tax...
