We are now starting to price out photographers. My ceremony is taking place at my venue so I do not have to worry about travel time etc. We are also planning on taking out photos before the ceremony so we can enjoy the cocktail hour.
I have a few questions....
What are the average quotes?
How many hours are you booking the photographer for?
Opinion on taking pictures while you are getting ready?
I feel like I am not sure what the point is? But also didn't want to regret it in the future...
Just curious on your thoughts.. thanks

photographer..Opinions, thoughts, ?'s
I am using JoVon Photography. He's a bit on the pricier side but he's a family friend of FH and he does amazing work. He was nice enough to give us the photographers for 13 hours without charging overtime. I'm not too crazy about having pictures of me getting ready but since we have the photographers for 13 hours, why not? FH and I consider photography to be one of the most important parts of a wedding since it will last forever.

What are the average quotes? Honestly photographers have a large range! I would decided on much you can afford, and go from there. A lot of people here have talked about Fade to Black being really good at working with you on a budget. My photographer is from NJ (I'm an odd ball, but I'm obsessed with him), but I know there are a lot of good photographers on LI.
How many hours are you booking the photographer for? My package comes with a default of 9 hours, but I can add hours for an extra charge.
Opinion on taking pictures while you are getting ready? I definitely want these! I want to be able to look back at photos of me and my girls getting ready, because I'm sure there will be moments I will forget or might not even know about. It's all part of the day!
HTH and good luck on your search!!

My photographer will be there when I'm getting ready and basically taken that time to do still shots of my shoes rigs invitations bouquets etc. and then a few of me faking getting ready ( mom pretending to button me up etc) my photographer is not by hour but for my event so he is there the whole day from start to finish.

1. Average for photo and video I would say is about 5k
2. Our photographer is for the whole wedding, no hourly limit- They just gave a time that they will be at my house in the morning, and they will leave when the wedding ends
3. I personally love the getting ready pics, I like the makeup/hair pics alot... I also think it's cute when people take mugshots of all of the bridesmaids before hair and makeup is done lol- I am a fan of the candid shots, and i think it is nice to have pics of you getting reading with all of your bridesmaids

1. I'm not sure if there is an average really--some spend 1k some go up to insane amounts like 8k. I think 3500 is average. 2. We will have our photographer for 10 hours with an assistant and second photographer. 3. I totally want the photographer there while I get ready. I'm not all about 'traditional' photos, I'd rather more candid ones..and I think getting ready is where most of those photos come from!
