I'm looking for a wedding photographer, too and was referred to Paul Marino Photography in Massapequa. I heard he's great (but he was booked all ready for my 6/9/01 wedding date! :( ) Lots of luck!

Hi! Do I have to have a cake topper? Can't I just have the cake decoreted with flower? I don't really like the cake tops I have seen, and I'v seen a lot of them.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Every where I call has a 100 or more minumum. We do need to have it on a Saturday (afternoon preferrably) because we have family who will need to drive in from 4 hours away).

I'm in Massapequa too, I have heard good things about Lavender, but haven't been to see them yet.

I guess you feel you need the last word or something. And if you do post another message about this topic, then we will see who has nothing better to do. End it already, and grow up!

On the note of the disposable cameras.....the past few weddings I have been to the couples have had them on the table. They were the BEST idea!! The pictures that people took that the photographer couldnt capture were priceless!! I am seriously considering having them for my wedding (if the budget allows). Sometimes you dont need a real shutterbug to capture the moment!!

Just my thoughts.

Hi Lisa,

I am using Lavender for my 2/16/01 wedding. I found them to be very professional and willing to work within my budget. Talk to Michael

Great thanks Michelle!! I will call them and set up an appointment!!

I realize it is a bit far but if you want to be comfortable, it may be worth the trip.

I went to Lavender which at the time was diagonally across the street from The Manor East. We spoke to a gentleman named Michael and he was very helpful and did not use the pressure tactic.

However I did go to another Studio in Mineola (they have an indoor studio with "sets") and I found them to be horrible

Jennifer,

That sounds horrible and much different from my experience. Lavendar is one of my catering halls "house vendors". When my fiancee and I went for an appointment, Michael was great taking the time to show us different portait types, different styles of photography, etc. I am sorry you had such a bad experience

Thanks in advance...

I'm not sure how Paul Marino's prices are. I have an appointment with another photographer in his studio on 8/2, but I was really hoping to get him, but he's booked. My fault for waiting too long! As for Lavender, a co-worker of mine said her sister used Lavender and had an awful experience, but I'm not sure if it's that Lavender or if there's another place with the same name (her sister lives way out east, so I don't know that she'd come all the way to Massapequa.)

i have the same situation...originally she really wanted to wear a tux like the rest of the guys, but after calling many tux places, the all said that they didn't carry women's tuxes for social occasions. luckily she bought a black silk suit (jacket and long skirt) and said she is going to go with the guys and try to get a matching shirt (in a boys size if its just too big) and vest. i basically told her i wanted her to be comfy and she said that she didn't want to look to manish or detract from the rest of the guys... so i think what she chose is a good choice. if you need more advise on this, let me know. good luck and happy planning! -leighann

I think someone else on the board has that date, but I haven't seen them post in this thread. Do we share this date with anyone here?

Karen,

Were her pictures from Lavender terrible or just the sales approach?

Any words of merriment ??
