Ok...so I've met with 3 photographers so far...all of various price ranges...I'm not thrilled with any so far. We always wind up meeting with the owner or a salesperson. My question is....is there a photographer out there who we would meet with the first time? It just seems like a hassle to meet with a 'photographer' and get there and have someone else talking to you about prices. I am meeting a photographer because I want to see his vision for my wedding and see if we gel. What's also very frustrating is that they keep telling us because we have a small wedding we only need 1 photographer. Two out of the three photographers we met with were the owners, and they would not shoot our wedding because they only shoot 'When you need 2 photographers'. It's like the reception halls all over again. Like we are not good enough for the owner since we have a small wedding. I'm starting to get frustrated. Have any of you gals with under 100 guests had 1 photographer? How has it turned out? Did you pay more for a 2nd photographer? Any advice? Sorry for the vent......

Re: Photographers...
what about thomas paul? i loved that i met with HIM, and that all of the sample work i was looking at was HIS. he also doesn't care how big your wedding is - and he's super easy to get along with!

I'm using Modern Wedding Photography. Denise is the owner and the photographer. No sales people, no additional photographers. She's really good—gorgeous photojournalistic albums. Check AMJA's review for examples .
ETA: Hmm...just read the whole post (should've done that the first time). It's her and assistant. So if you're looking for multiple photographers than she might not be right for you. though in the albums I've seen, it looks like she manages to get every moment.
You should def meet w/ Denise from Modern Wedding Photography! Her assistant did get shots also. Denise got more than enough images..almost too many!!

I used George from Right Angle and I met with him personally. He didnt push a second photographer on me-I WANTED a second one. His prices are pretty good compared to most. My budget wasnt excessive but it wasnt small either.
ANd i LOOOVE all of my pictures
I was going to say Right Angle Studios. That is who I'm using for my wedding. He is the owner & he also is my photographer for my wedding. He is great!!!!

I called her yesterday. She moved upstate and no longer shoots weddings in LI. I just about cried. Her work was the best I had seen up until now.

Re: Photographers...
you might want to check Silverfox. We used them and are happy with the results. John the owner met with us and he has several photogs working there but he shows you albums and identifies whose work it is. At least when we booked he did meet & greets with the photogs once a month so you could meet them and see if you gel with them. We had small wedding with 80 people and it was our choice if we wanted 1 or 2. He has an option for 2nd photog for 4 hours which was good for us. We did that to get extra shots at house, ceremony and formal shots before reception so while main photog was doing the typical pics the other ine could get other interesting shots. but at reception we only really needed one since that was all candid. I am also having a small wedding and when I went to Silverfox I first spoke with the owner and he told me to check different albums and choose which style I like best, from there he told us that the pictures I chose where from the same photographer so he called the photographer in and we spoke to him, he said that the 2nd photographer was optional if we wanted or not. They were great. I will recommend them (they were our second option).

Re: Photographers...
Try meeting with someone who isn't a company of photogrpahers, but just an independant photographer. There are a bunch on WPJA FH and I booked with ANdreas Rentsch- we met with him and he sat with us and talked about what he does and showed us examples and was in no way pushy at all! We only met with independant photogrpahers and they were the same way. Just talked about their style and showed us pictures. You don't get the salesman feeloing from them. Another person we met with and liked but didn't book was Peter Doyle. He also has beautiful work!! Some of them also have a second photographer that they bring. When we booked with Andreas he said that his wife serves as a second photographer and she is also a professional. oodluck with your search- you'll find someone!!!

i used Thomaspaul....u meet with TOM and tom only. Who is the owner & photographer...and back when i booked everyone got a second photographer....i dont think the amount of guests matter - the second photographer is there to get more candid photos..not photos of ur guests lol. well - i hope everything works out for u!
He's already booked for my date....
you can ask him if his other photographer is booked, brian. I called to set up a meeting with him and he was open and then when i called again he was booked but brian wasnt. When we went to meet with him he showed us all of brians work first so we would see how he shot. once we said we liked it then we went on to see the other things. try asking him that :)

Re: Photographers...
I am using Blue Daisy (Marianne is the photographer)...I loved her work and she is such a doll. Not the cheapest but also certainly not the most expensive...And from the looks of it you can what you pay for. Search for the screen name CarolineBR (another LIW person). She used Blue Daisy and her pics are incredible....Also go to her website and look at the blog...She has her recent shoots posted there...
Good luck and FM me if you have questions! Leslie
