Photographers...How many did you look at?

We're going to start looking for a Photographer next week. I have a list of four that I would like to check out....how many did you guys see? And do you have any advice as to what I should be asking and/or looking for?? Can you haggle?

We only looked at one photographer - based on the work they did for my sisters wedding, their albums and their website - Verdi.

You should be looking at their work and see if it's what you envision. See how comfortable you are with them - since you'll be spending an entire day with them and they'll be capturing once in a lifetime moments for you. I'm sure you can work with most photographers to customize a package for your budget.

We looked at seven or eight. That is because I was very picky and I had a specific style in mind that I wanted.

We looked at 3 but I knew that I wanted the third one we were going to see because I have known his work my whole life.

We looked at 2 - and called a third, but they were booked for my date already. I booked the first one I saw - B rett M atthews.

I think I looked at about 10. I was driven by price and quality but I needed to stay in budget and I did with DUET. It is very easy to go over budget w/ photographer/video. Here is the list of people I saw:
1 Marco
2 Patken
3 Koala
4 ADA
5 DUET
6 Bart Stevens
7 Vivid
8 Impact Imaging
9 Some guy in Wading River- accross street from Majestic Gardens- can't remember his name- George Pliakis

10. Fredrick Studios

I think that's it- although it seems like I went to more and someone is missing.

I looked at 5 (I think) and of course I chose the last one I looked at...

my sister came with me on my search...which made it very easy for her when she chose...she didn't look at anyone...

One of the others was Franklin Square and right now, the other name is escaping me...

I knew who I wanted because my sister used Patken, and LOVED her pics. I looked at another, who hubby wanted to use.
So we only looked at 2.

Wedding Magic (Marty Willard)
Patken
Queens Bridal
Lavendar Studio
Silverfox
Alan & Alan Photography

and we will be going to Duet later in the week. I may check out 1 or 2 more that come highly recommended here.

We are having such trouble finding the one we can commit to. We keep going back and forth.

Patken, Marco, Jeffrey Studios and North Island Photography and we went with North Island.

to me the photographer is the most important thing to me besides the reception place. we looked at imagine, duet, spellman, cassarino, and patken. i fell in love with imagine on this site from other girls proofs and once i met lea and nelson i knew they were the photographers for us. they are a bit expensive, but i was looking for a good mixture of both photojournalism and traditional and they were the only ones who i thought captured the images that i would want at my wedding. i would suggest looking for recommendations from past brides, the style of photos they take, the type of pictures they take(digital vs film), price and chemistry with the photographers
