Has anyone made their own photography albums through shutterfly or anywhere else instead of having the photographer make them? We are planning on doing this to cut costs down. Just want to see if I'm crazy for doing it myself.

i did an engagement book that came out cute on shutterfly. it wasn't as nice as a professional album but i also just got the basics for only about $30. you can put more money into it (like $100 maybe) and get some nicer features like lay flat pages, ect. there are nicer sites out there too that you can spend a little more on and get nicer more professional looking albums.in hindsight, i kind of wish i planned on making my own instead of putting them in with my photographer contract...especially for parent albums.

We're doing this for parent albums as well. FMIL really doesn't care and my mother flat-out TOLD me that if I give her an album, it better be from Shutterfly or something. My brother and SIL did one for their honeymoon pix and they (and my mom) love it. Maybe if you have other pix you love from some other event, maybe a vacation or something, you could put one together just to see if you'd be happy with it for the wedding photos. If you did engagement photos (as the above poster mentioned) or a history of your relationship with FH, you could display it at the wedding...HTH!

We also did a Shutterfly album for e-pics and made 2 Picaboo ones for our parents. I LOVEEEEEE our Shutterfly book! It's not professional wedding album quality, but I love the little embellishments that I could include and that I could fit as many pics as I wanted into 20 pages. I love paging through it

we did one of those (picaboo maybe?) for our guest book (full of eng pix)not sure but i think there are 'better' places to get them made for your actual albums, still online - maybe search on here or ask your photographer (mine had some suggestions but i dont remember exact info... sorry!)

We plan on doing this, but we are using Blurb. They quality of the pictures is much better than Shutterfly IMO.

We paid $1000.00 for our photographer which included the e-shoot and all day coverage. We got about 100 engagement pictures and 700+ wedding pictures. The package didnt include the albums and we did it ourselves and ordered them through snapfish (they always have deals on their photobooks) it came out way cheaper and saved us a lot of money...

I had a former coworker do it on kodak which is now shutterfly. It looked great, told FH that we will be doing the same thing.
Just make sure that the photographers gives you a copy right cd that you can print from. I once did professional photos got the cd thinking I could print at home for it to be a dvd of pics.

They said that it would be on DVD with full copyright rights. It can only be on CD to print photos or it can be on a DVD?

Re: photography albums
Try mpix.comThey have options to make the book with the hard pages that you would find from a photographer. Great quality and very professional looking.
