Photography Problem

Photography Problem

I am having such a hard time with choosing/ booking a photographer that I am going to skip that for now and just select my DJ. I have my heart set on a photographer (Joshua Dwain) but he is WAY over budget and I can't see my mother understanding. At the same time, photo and video is so important to me and I want to look back and feel like I was at the wedding one more time. I do not want the cookie cutter photos and the photographer my mom wants me to use does just that!! I finally decided to just skip this part of the planning for now, book my DJ, and go back to this later.

Has anyone else had to do anything similiar to this? Is it a good idea?

I love Joshua Dwain as well however since he became popular so did his prices.

Check out Kesha Lambert Photography. Similar to JD but much less with price. Also, Do you like Lighthouse Photography ? They have awesome pics and pricing.

Definitely skip it and book your DJ now. Keep searching for lesser known photographers. I'm sure you'll be able to find something similar for less money.

Check out Lovemore Photo and Turn Loose the Art. They both do amazing work!! Good luck!

http://prodigyphotography.weebly.com/index.html you should check him out. he doesn't seem to do the typical wedding photos. I also don't want the typical cookie cutter photos and I'll probably look into him and a few others before I ever book but I have awhile to go

A few questions:

1. What is your budget (you can FM if need be)
2. What style do you like best?

Remember you can always negotiate your package too, we got a package that wasn't listed on their rates either... A little over budget but we're getting a lot:

1. Engagement shoot
2. Photobook for guestbook (using e-pics)
3. 4 8x10
4. 12 5x7
5. 76 page custom album
6. unlimited coverage (no time constraints, they are with you the ENTIRE day from prep to end of reception)
7. DVD with ALL the pics (no restriction)

If you search is site, Gio's prices are listed, and my friend had nothing but good things to say about him. I was out of touch with this frind when he got married, but if I had known about this photog when I got engaged I def would have put him on my short list.

Ask for early booking rates too...

I'd wait and look for some other photographers. Also try figuring out what you need a package is key. There were so many items in mine that I wound up not needing. I could have easily taken those out during planning had I looked a little closer.

His work is beautiful. Maybe to avoid stress skip photgraphy for now and look into booking your other vendors. I will say that photography is sooo important & it's definitly something you should not settle with if you think you've found the one. Maybe save up some and try and book him a little later.

Re: Photography Problem

For me, photography was the one thing where we splurged on very high quality. I knew I wanted to book Perceptions, and they worked with me where I'll be receiving a disc of all the pics and a small album. I just have the proofs now, but for me, the pictures are what help you remember the day. Try working with the photographer to see if you can just get a disc of the pics to make your own albums--it can really help cut down the price!

ETA: I am obsessed with my wedding pics, and they are pretty non-traditional and beautiful .

I wouldn't wait to long on your photographer. They book up far in advance.

I don't know what your budget is but we used North Island. Michael's photos are amazing. I have a degree in film and electronic media and my father while not a pro, is an amazing photographer, so both were super important to me. I love North Island.

For video I used Wild Rose. They have a lot of packages. They do beautiful work. The minute I saw the video I knew I wanted them.
