I am having such a hard time with choosing/ booking a photographer that I am going to skip that for now and just select my DJ. I have my heart set on a photographer (Joshua Dwain) but he is WAY over budget and I can't see my mother understanding. At the same time, photo and video is so important to me and I want to look back and feel like I was at the wedding one more time. I do not want the cookie cutter photos and the photographer my mom wants me to use does just that!! I finally decided to just skip this part of the planning for now, book my DJ, and go back to this later.
Has anyone else had to do anything similiar to this? Is it a good idea?

Re: Photography Problem
Yes, ALWAYS get the disc with the pics on them... Everything's digital these days and it's not like they are wasting 'film' by giving you copies of the photos.

Re: Photography Problem
Maybe you can negotiate a smaller and cheaper package? As long as you get the rights and the full digital images on disc you can print them yourself.

Re: Photography Problem
Photography is one area I didn't skimp with... we ended up booking (on the spot) with Anthony Vazquez of Perceptions... we loved his style and his personality....
With him you also own the rights to all of your photos and get a disc with all the high res images to do what you want with... in adition to the albums....

take some time out and do some more research before you settle on your photographer. FM and I go into at least 20 arguments about the photographer because i didnt want the cookie cutter photos and he didnt wan to send a great amount of money. you can find someone who is great but not as expensive. check craigslist for photographers. also like some of the fellow LIWers suggested, you can also pick your own packages and cut out some things to make your package cheaper. i got lucky and won a $600 off my photography package! that solved my FH and my arguments!

If you have your heart set on his work why not just hire him to shoot the day and give you the images? You can make the albums on your own - that's what we're doing for our parent albums. This way you can get the quality/style photography you want and not settle on someone you don't like as much. Just a thought!!! Good Luck!!

Thank you!! I feel like you really understand... I am really considering this because I did want an album and was going to make the parent albums. I may just have to sacrifice an album, a few more things as well, and just go with my heart. I did make appointments with different photographers too. Let's see...
