For those that have booked photographers - How do you know what you want? What I mean is the amount of pictures, proofs, etc? I am pretty clueless. What is the norm?
I think I'm actually going to start making some appointments soon. I know, I keep saying that!
I found that most of the packages are listed with a break down of everything, and then I compared each list and price. And of course the actually quality of the pictures.

Re: Photography ?'s
There are a couple of photographers that I really like their work. So, I'm going to make an appointment with them and see what they say. I know that some don't offer packages andthey ask what you want and I'm not sure of what exactly I need.

I realized that I loveee and want most of my photos photojournalistic style, but when looking at all the rec vendors on here... they all seem great... I dont think I have an eye for these things Like how do you tell which ones is better than another?? LOL

I seem to like the photojournalistic ones and fall for the ones where they are taken in really pretty locations. I love when the photographer is creative.

i'm clueless when it comes to picking a photographer. Everyones pics look so good, i feel like they're all very talented. The one pic i dont want is when the bridal party jumps up in the air and the married coupe stands around them. It just looks weird to me. anyone feel that way?

Most of the packages are more like ideas of what you get for your money. You are able neg. what you really want, like instead this you may want something else. I'm not doing a grandparent albums, I am going to make my own using shutterfly. That would have been an extra add-on that I can do myself. I was worried about what to ask alos,I had no idea what I would need but when you see it in writing it is easier.

When you go and they give you the break downs it's much easier to figure out what you want!
They do negotiate My suggestion would be to make a list and go see them all (even ifyou love the first one and are wanna book right then and there) Then sit down and compare the lists.
Typically packages include your album a parent album or two, some loose pictures like 8X10's and 4X6's wallets, engagement session..... ***Be aware not all photographers include B&W and Sepia pics in packages! ****
Here's the biggest peice of advice I can give though
when you go the appointment and look at the albums that are out REMEMBER that is what they chose for you to see.....I was kind of turned off when i saw the albums at the photograhers and then I saw pics of weddings on here that they did and the style in no way matched!!!! Now granted that could have been the and decision But consistency was important to me.....I felt that the photographer needs to be true to their style.

Of course they are going to show you their best work and most of the time that is not going to be their everyday work ya know? Thats why I've been narrowing my search by looking on here first and then I'll pay a visit to the photogs

Leli was great...he breaks everything down for you and you have a whole range of albums to chose from...I think it is important to know what type of look you want for your pics...like we DID NOT want to be posed and Gary understood completely.... some big name photogs that we spoke to did not want to listen to what we wanted...they kept saying that they would pose us but make it look not posed....they missed the point...
so go in there knowing what look you are going for... you have to click with them!!

THanks everyone. I've been looking at the photographers website and then finding real brides on here to compare. That is how I basically narrowed it down to 2 photgraphers (so far) that I want to make appointments for.

they wont ask you though questions like how many proofs do you want or anything like that. They have a norm that they do for most weddings and they'll tell you that amount, for example they'll guarantee at least 800 or 1200 or others more.
Someones style will stick out to you and you'll see pictures that are exactly the vision you have of pictures you want...I went through the same thing at first, i looked at SOOOO many sites and everyones pictures and it was always like Oooo that is nice, but like alot of ppl have said, theres so many nice ones and after a while it was like well they do nice work, so do they but didnt see a huge difference to separate themselves from another so i didnt know what i was going to do...Then i saw my photographers work online once and the moment i saw the pics i was like WOW now that is EXACTLY the pics i want for my wedding and who i want no questions about it, and after that i knew that for what i wanted this was the person.
WHen you meet them too, personality and how you communicate with them is also very important...you'll see quite a few girls on here went on appointments, loved the work and then when they met with them had bad experiences and said forget it...sometimes they forgot about the appointment, weren't paying too much attention or whatever the case was and it made them nervous about the attention they were going to be given for their own weddings

You will know...you will see pictures that you can imagine yourself taking and will just clikc with the photog. We just fell in love with their pictures, their style, their philosophy on photography and art in general...we werent thrilled with the price but we agreed to just suck it up and get the best pictures we could find!

definitely think first about whether you want traditional or photojournalistic and also there are alot of companies that say they also do photojournalistic along with traditional but you can see a difference at times...then theres some who do ONLY photojournalistic...for example i wanted just photojournalistic, yes youll pose for some but the posing you do for these are completely different than traditional, no smiling perfectly right at the camera or anything like that...so after i decided on that, i stuck with photographers who are only Photojournalistic...my opinion is that the ones who stick to the true style of PJ pics are those who work for themselves rather than alot of large companies
