Any info that anyone has on Photos by Verdi or Mark Kauffman would be greatly appreciated. Going to see them next week. Looking for a reasonably priced, non-intrusive, candid black and white typed photographer. Any comments would be so helpful. price, # of proofs, candids, # of photographers Thanks :)

I went to see them and they might be what you are looking for, BUT are on the more expensive side...2700 just for the pictures and one book...then everything else adding on brings you to 4000-5000...although I was extremely impressed with their presentation. I am getting 2 photographers, asst, 350 min proofs, book, tons of picture (for bridal party and parents with folios) for under 2000 and the guy is great (John - VIP Studios) one photg does color pics and the other does b/w candids.

I have seen Verdi's photos at my videographer's place. And I am booking Mark Kauffman. I will say that you are going to spend atleast $4K with either. I am spending $5K on my photographer. Believe me I did not start out with that much money in my budget for photographer but I feel in love with the photos. If you want a really good alternate, try VIP. He gives you 2 photographers and you get a lot for about $2500. I have learned that if the vendor is not within my budget and I seen them anyway I end up spending a lot more money. But I recommend Mark's work and his staff. You can also negoiate a lot with him. The only thing that bothers me is that he charges 10% more for 2002 weddings, says he has to pay his photographers more next year. I kinda felt that since I booked in 2001 I should pay the 2001 prices but he gave me a lot of extra photos to make up for it.

I used Photography by Verdi for my 7/15 wedding. Rich and Mindy were wonderful. My pictures are beautiful. They really captured the moment. I ended up with 450 proofs. They were definitely not cheap. $3000 for the proofs, our album with 35 pics and 2 parent albums with 20 pics and one blow up.. I will end up spending another 500 or so on add'l pics. I had also met with Mark. Although I'm sure his work is good, I just didn't click with him like I did with Rich and Mindy and when I calculated it out he was going to end up costing around $6000. Have not seen Verdi but we booked Mark Kaufman. Loved his work and he seemed easy to work with. He averages 1000-1200 proofs with 2 photographers. Lots of candids and natural poses.

VIP Studios - Port Jeff John Pagano 631) 476-www.hotimpactimaging.com/vipstudios.htm I felt very at ease with him. He works out of his home and is very laid back...no gimmicks. He is extremely flexible with prices - about 1700-2600 or so...I didn''t need parent books, so I was able to get a lot of prints in exchange. I love the fact that there will be two photographers (I went to a wedding and saw some kids in the wedding party poking at each other and it was so cute, but missed b/c of one photographer who was taking bride/groom - naturally) He also has a video package 700 raw and 1200 for edited. I got his name from this board and I think there are at least 3-4 others using him. I live in Queens, but am glad I went to see him...he goes anywhere in the Tri-State area. And he was the only photographer to offer me a set of proofs a bride was picking up without me having to ask. Hes got some great non wedding pictures in his studio. I saw your post about the wedding with the children, and since then have been trying to find a photographer that will have 2 people shooting pics.. I think that is a great idea.. and my budget for pics is about 2k.. so I think he will be great.. I did a search and see other posts about him.. everyone seems to be pleased with him!!! Also look into www.weddinggroupone.com I used them for my wedding and the pics were incredible. Their website speaks for itself and the packages range from 2,000-3,500 that includes 400-500 proofs and albums. I got about 700 proofs back!!
