Well its been almost 4 weeks and my ankle is still swollen, not as bad as when it first happened but the top part is still pretty swollen. I am so annoyed because for the first time today I tried to put heels on and i really can't even walk in heels at all, not even one step. To bend my foot that much hurts ALOT. I am so mad and frustrated right now. Out of all times for this to happen, couldn't happen at a worst time. I DONT want to wear flats for my wedding, i want to be able to dance, its something i love and to not be able to really do it at my wedding will S*CK!!! whenever i think of my wedding i always think about dancing most of the night and having such a great time.
Even now, i am trying to figure out what to pack for when i leave friday but meanwhile i cant even wear most of my shoes. Theres one pair that have a low platform heel that feel OK but doesnt go with anything i have. Do i wear flip flops with everything? Ive sacrificied so much with the wedding, and i finally get to go away and just leave all the stress behind but meanwhile i have to deal with this BS. I know theres worst things in life, but i dealt with so many ups and downs during this planning processing, i want to be carefree on my wedding day, having to constantly worry about my foot just annoys me to think about. UGH just so upset about this right now so needed to vent, having my moment and yes i know i should be thankful for other things but sometimes you can't help it.
I was reading more online about sprains and how bad it is depending on your symptoms. Well considering I tore a few ligaments and read that if its minor swelling goes away in a few days. If its grade 3 the worst kind it will take 4-6 weeks well im almost at week 4 and yup still swollen. Ive been told by others that i probably need physical theraphy and reading info seems like I might.
My question is with 3 weeks of physical theraphy, would that make a big difference? for something like this how long would i have to go to physical theraphy. I am going to make a 3rd appt with the doctor but anything else that i can do to help it heal quicker?

DeNISE if you want the swelling to go down in time for your wedding try acupuncture., My left leg has gone down quite a bit in only 3 weeks., go for a consultation and see how it will help you to heel in time for the wedding.
Hey i'll try anything at this point. How much is it for acupuncture, is it expensive?
well i go to this guy in china town that does this herbal treatment on me with acupuncture once a week., he charges me $50 a session which is not bad at all..
oh wow thats not bad. What is his name, i might go to him
Wai Yuen Acupuncturist Center 135 Grand Street, 3rd Floor, 212-925-8137 Its a little out of your way but hes good., I mean I can walk now...after weeks of hunching over b/c of back pain and knee swelling so...I think at this point you should try it...its natural healing.

Denise- I was talking to FH and hes a foot doc, He says that you are in the early stages of healing. Acupuncture will only be a temporary fix to reduce the swelling. A cortisone shot should be done after 6 weeks if its not feeling better .Otherwise you can risk rupturing the ligaments/ tendons in the area if you get the shot right now... Free consultation Date twin
i have an extra camwalker in size 8 if you want it.

Oooo ok yeah ill stay away from cortisone shots now. Wedding day it will be 6 weeks after I hurt myself so just in case it is bothering me maybe i can get it the day before, but thank you so much definitely dont want that happening. Yeah ill even take a temporary fix in the meantime. Ill go to physical theraphy too so i wont use just acupuncture to heal but just to help it somewhat

Re: physical theraphy questions
You need to rest, elevate, ice, and ace bandage your ankle at all times! You don't have much time so you need to keep as much pressure off your feet as possible. Wearing heels will aggravate the ligaments. You may end up twisting your ankle and worsening the conditions. Physical therapy will help but also see your doctor.
I have sprained my ankle quite a few times. Mostly because it did not fully heal and I was wearing heels. Hope this helps.

I know that this is the worst time that this could happen, but stay as positive as you can. I'd sacrifice heels and wear flip flops ALL weekend (sneakers when possible to) to let the ankle heal as much as possible by May, so that you can wear the heels you want for your wedding. The weather will be gorgeous in Vegas and flip flops will be more than appropriate. Hey, ask your girls to pack flip flops and you should ALL go out and party in them! I know that you will make the most of anything that goes your way and know that ankle or not, you are going to have a blast this weekend!!! I'd go to physical therapy as much as the recommend and hang in there........you have time to build up strength in your ankle....sports people do it all the time!!!!!
yeah very true, it'll be hott so flip flops will be fine. I have 2 very dressy dresses im bringing with me but whatever ill rock it with the flip flops hahaha. Hey ill put my aircast when going out too and who knows maybe it will really help with us getting into places and not having to wait on line so can be a benefit
thank you very much
That's true! It will all work out : )

be thankful that it happened now, i just broke the major support born in my foot and am in a cast getting married Saturday!!! Physical therapy for my break is 6 weeks 3 times a week! I think the time is shorter for a sprain...HTH and feel better!
Aww, I am soo sorry for you!! That's horrible. I'll remember you in my prayers. Best of luck to you.

Re: physical theraphy questions
Aw, Denise I'm so sorry you're still in a lot of pain with your foot. Like I told you before, I hurt my foot like that years ago. I just thought it was a sprain so I didn't make a big deal about it. Now, it always bothers me because it probably didn't heal well. So don't take any chances now! Be careful when you are in Vegas. Try to wear the most comfortable shoes you can, especially if you want to dance a lot. Try and give it a rest though too. Between a lot of walking and dancing it will end up swelling up more.
Maybe you should try the accupuncture or cortisone shot like the girls said. Actually, if it's still bothering you a lot right before the wedding, maybe that's when you should do the cortisone shot. The place where Lisa knows might be a good option for you! Feel better!

yeah its crazy bc i twisted my ankle once before. It turned purple and i couldnt walk for a week but after a week i was able to walk and was fine. Can't believe how much worse it is now. I thought when it first happened UGH i might be out of commission for a week, really didn't think it would be this long until i got to the doctor and they told me.
Yeah i am going to ask my Doc what my options are
thank you

Re: physical theraphy questions
The most important thing you should do is resting it as much as possible. I would suggest therapy since I've been there numerous times for my broken back, herniated disk, car accidents, etc. It definately helps!
With all the injuries I have had, Ive learned the hard way to definately do not push yourself into feeling better and you just need to give yourself time to heal. You could re-injure yourself especially right before your big day.
Feel better

oh no so sorry you've had numerous accidents and problems
yeah ive been so careful. Even going to work now i take my precious time, i walk very slow and i pick my foot up with a limp hard to explain lol so i dont bend my foot at all when walking. Its a bit annoying i'll admit but i just want to heal fast so i am trying my best. Today was the first time i even tried bending my foot that much and even attempting to put heels on. I am so afraid to even bend it just to test it out.
Thank you

Oh, and try elevating it when you are at work. Put a box or something under your desk.
