Picky MOH

Picky MOH

I've been driving myself crazy for the last few weeks try to find a gold sandal for my BM's to wear. The one's that I do like are over $75.00.
I want them all in the same shoe. 3 out of the 5 are tall (5'9-5'10) and my MOH refuses to wear anything over 1'. If you look at the dress its hard to find something with a small heel that will look good. That dress needs a bigger heel. I wan't to make her happy but, I want it to look stylish too. Some say that the shoes are no big deal. Am I putting too much focus on this?

maybe.....if the dress is long no one will see it, and people will be looking at the flowers, the hair, the makeup, more than the shoes.
I have really bad feet and have to be super picky about shoes. As long as the color matches and the style is subtle, I might let it go,

Good luck!

As a 5'11 girl I can sympathize with your MOH. High heels can make some tall women feel huge and honestly be very uncomfrtable if it is not something she normally wears. How about compromising with a 2 inch or letting her wear a slightly different shoe (which you can pick if you'd like) since she is the MOH.

JMO-if it were me, I dont think I'd be too happy if someone told me what shoes to wear. I am very particular when it comes to shoes, and if Im going to be standing in them all day, I want something that I am going to be comfortable in. I dont think its worth getting into a fight with your MOH over. Plus I cant honestly say I've ever noticed bridesmaids shoes at a wedding...they probably will be covered by the dress anyway.

I looked in your album and it looks like it's a floor length dress...I would let it go and just let them get whatever gold shoes they want and be done with it...you don't need to have anxiety over this and it will make everyone happier!

honestly, yeah maybe just let it go...let them all find whatever gold shoes they like...nobody will notice their shoes, you wont even notice their shoes the day of. You'll save yourself the stress and they'll all be happy and comfortable.

It wont look bad if the girls all have different shoes. I told my girls they can wear whatever color or style they wanted. No need to give yourself more work. I didnt even pay attention to my bm's shoes the day of, i cant even remember what shoes they wore lol

I agree with this. I just told my girls the color and said wear whatever youd like. No need to let it drive you crazy.

At first, I tried to find the same shoes for my BM dresses as well - my dresses are tea length. It ended up being the most stressful experience! Everyone had something to say and when we finally reached a decision, everyone couldn't get their size.

My advice to you... let them pick their own shoes and give a few guidlines (color, strappy, sandal, whatever). You will be much better off in the long run and I promise no one will care what shoes your BMs are wearing.

Craft Shoes in Commack has shoes with different heels that look very similar...I gave my girls a choice of 4 shoes and they all coordinate nicely

Honestly, I wouldn't put too much focus on the BM shoes. I let all of my BMs pick their own shoes as long as they got them dyed the color of the dress. Honestly, hardly anyone will notice their shoes. I would let them pick their own shoes - it will be less stressful for you and them.

I agree --- I am very very picky about shoes and would be really unhappy if I had to wear uncomfortable shoes. I like a high heel, and I hate strappy shoes because they dig into my feet. I'd also be pissed if I had gold shoes I liked and then had to buy a new pair that I knew I'd never wear again.

I understand the dilemma if it's a short dress, but nobody will see them if it's a long dress. My girls are wearing long, so I told them any open-toe silver shoes, and to let me know if the open-toe is a problem because I'm flexible (just prefer open toe if possible). 2 already had, 2 bought new ones they like (veeeeery different from eachother but they both love what they picked out) and I dont know what the last girl picked but at least they will be happy.

this is the type of thing that may make your BP resent you...i'm sorry if that hurts - but it's the truth.

no one is going to notice the shoes of your BP...if the dresses are long, they won't be seen.

there are FAR too much other things for people to notice - the flowers, the dresses, the atmosphere, YOUR dress, your groom and the guys in tuxes....

again - sorry - but it's the truth.

don't worry about the shoes. let them wear whatever. no one else but you will notice anyway. and they'll be grateful that you let them choose their own shoes.

IMO, Yes. I can understand tall people not wanting to wear heels. One of my BM's is veryyyyy tall. Will the shoes be seen? How long do you think they will be wearing them? My MOH will be 8 months pregnant with twins, we aleady bought comfy slippers and I doubt she will wear heals for long if at all. I told all the BM's to get silver shoes... I really don't think anyone is going to notice. My FH actually thinks that it does matter (I just asked). Maybe because I am low maintanence. He even wanted all the GM shoes to match.

I have to agree with this, but for a different reason. I have a weak leg and hate shoe shopping because it's so difficult to find something pretty and comfortable at the same time. Heel height must be at a minimum for me. Just my totally honest opinion, take it for what it's worth, but if someone asked me to be a BM and then said I HAD to wear a specific shoe with a specific heel height, I'd say thank you, but I'm very sorry I can't do it because of the shoes.

Along this vein, I wore gold heels as a BM for my friend's wedding last summer (she just said get any pair of gold shoes). I found a pretty pair of heels, and thought I'd tumble because we were standing under the chuppah so long with her. As soon as the ceremony was over, I grabbed my gold flats from FH and was comfortable the rest of the evening, danced up a storm! If I was in those heels all night, I would've sat the entire night in pain. And seriously, no one even noticed my shoes, even when I got 'shorter.'

I told my sisters and my friend (same as above) to get whatever silver shoes they could find or have in their closet to wear for our wedding. I'd rather they be comfortable than upset and in pain for the entire day. Not to mention, my BM will be 7 months pregnant, and one of my sister's NEVER walks on heels, and will have just given birth a few months before (she's due soon!).

I'd say tell them to find a pair of gold shoes that makes them feel glamorous and goes well with their dresses. That way, they're comfortable and happy, and you'll know they'll be up for anything, rather than nursing hurt feet all night. Sorry if this is blunt. Don't mean to sound that way!

i would think that you would want her to be comfortable all day and with how she looked. Are you going to be staring at her feet all day?? it really wont make a big diff in the long run :) JMO

Plus what is 'Stylish' now is prolly going to be one of those things that our kids and grandkids look at the wedding pictures and laugh like we do with our parents.....just think those big hats they used to wear in the 70s!

Thanks for all of the comments. I'd like to let everyone know that obviously I want them to be comfortable and confident in them or else I wouldn't be searching like a maniac to find something that everyone likes.
I went thorough this with the dress too. I guess I'm too concerned with them being happy.

IMO if you want them to be happy, let them pick their own shoes. I told my girls silver strappy sandals....knock yourselves out!! they each picked their own shoe and they all looked great and were SO happy. On the other hand, I was a MOH for my cousin's wedding and she picked this ridiculous shoe that I 'HAD' to wear and my feet were killing me. I sat on my *** all night and didn't dance....***** for her.
