Pics of my centerpiece set up at the reception hall
I went to the Fox Hollow and set up my centerpiece on a table to see the scale of it, see how it looked. I really like it but can't decide if I like it with the fake goards or not. I have fake leaves too so I don't want a lot of fake stuff Plus it is a daytime wedding, so people will be able to tell they are fake. FH wants to get real goards the week of the wedding -- I am not opposed to this if we can do it quickly and cheaply .. I am not going to be running around like a maniac for these things.
What do you all think? Pics are below. Depending on the amount of tables I have, I should have enough for 4 of the orange votive cups - if I don't, I think three looks fine. (I bought ikea out of them.)
And I think it would look better with an orange candle, but i wanted unscented and a specific color, and I think they only come in cream. I got the candles in the poconos, and I am going there next weekend, so I may look and see if I can exchange ... if not, I'll deal with the cream colored ones.
Four votive cups with fake goards
Three votive cups with fake goards
Three votive cups with no fake goards

I like it!! It's really cute... simple and different... and brings so much color to the table.
I would stick with the white candles.... I think an orange candle would take away from the color of the leaves.... and if you can find the right size real gordes than go for it... esp. if it's not too expensive.
NICE!

But I agree with Matt, I would go with the real goards if you can swing it -
I won't be busy that week and would totally pick them up for you if you needed!!!

I think it looks great! If you're going to use gords - which I think would look really great - I think real ones would look better, Fake leaves and fake gords is just too much fake as you said.

Thanks girls! I had placed a green candle in the vase, one I had at home (only have two) and it looked reallllly nice. Green is not one of my colors but it's fall like so if I found some, I could do that.
I think the ivory is ok though, definitely not stressing over it.
And coleen, you are getting married the following week, what do you mean you won't be busy? If you won't busy, I have a dog that needs watching.

I guess the real goards is a good idea, huh? I will look in October for them I guess. If I buy them 2 weeks out, do you think they'll be ok (won't rot)?? I guess I could get them the week before. I need to give them to the reception hall around Oct 20 ...
I could put Coleen to work for me I suppose.

I can make a field trip of it one night the week before. I have no clue how long goards last though LOL

Sometimes real gourds are not as perfect looking as the fake ones! Can you TRY it w/an orange candle to get an idea?

I love them Jenn -- and would def use the real gords. Nothing like adding one more thing to the list.
The real ones last a pretty long time and you should be able to get them pretty easily. I know the farm stands out east have them but usually anywhere you pick pumpkins and sometimes supermarkets
ETA: I really like the ivory candle. The orange might be too much IMO!

I like it, but I feel ike the vase with the center candle should be taller/bigger (see attached pic)
