Pics of my centerpiece set up at the reception hall
Original post by TrueLoveIn2008
I went to the Fox Hollow and set up my centerpiece on a table to see the scale of it, see how it looked. I really like it but can't decide if I like it with the fake goards or not. I have fake leaves too so I don't want a lot of fake stuff Plus it is a daytime wedding, so people will be able to tell they are fake. FH wants to get real goards the week of the wedding -- I am not opposed to this if we can do it quickly and cheaply .. I am not going to be running around like a maniac for these things.
What do you all think? Pics are below. Depending on the amount of tables I have, I should have enough for 4 of the orange votive cups - if I don't, I think three looks fine. (I bought ikea out of them.)
And I think it would look better with an orange candle, but i wanted unscented and a specific color, and I think they only come in cream. I got the candles in the poconos, and I am going there next weekend, so I may look and see if I can exchange ... if not, I'll deal with the cream colored ones.
Four votive cups with fake goards
Three votive cups with fake goards
Three votive cups with no fake goards

Jen I love them! I would definitely go with the real gourds if you can. Love the white candle. It's perfect!

Re: Pics of my centerpiece set up at the reception hall
thanks again!
To answer you all in one post ... sorry ...
I already bought all the vases at walmart ($4 each! can't beat that).
I am going to call the store and see if they'll even take back the ivory candles. If they won't, no sense in lugging them there. I also don't need 15 ivory candles AND 15 orange / green / whatever color I would get, so buying more isn't an option if they won't exchange. If can, I'll try it before I do it.
I think I have 52 orange votive holders ... which is just enough for 13 tables ... which is the max my room can hold. i think i will have 12 tables, though. so i think 4 will work no matter what. if one table has to have three, so be it. i know i have 50 or so of them.
And I guess I am going with the real gourds. (thanks for spelling it right heather, i had no idea I was spelling it wrong!) Are they like $1 for 3 or 4 of them you think?
And thanks Coleen!! I will keep you in mind. my sister works for the company that does the baking for stop and shop so she's always in there, she can most likely get them for me if they don't charge a lot for them ...

I think it looks great! If you're going to use gords - which I think would look really great - I think real ones would look better, Fake leaves and fake gords is just too much fake as you said.
i agree!!! if you can get them real i think it would add a nice touch!
it looks beautiful though!!!

I like it!! It's really cute... simple and different... and brings so much color to the table.
I would stick with the white candles.... I think an orange candle would take away from the color of the leaves.... and if you can find the right size real gordes than go for it... esp. if it's not too expensive.
NICE!

Jenn awesome job. I prefer the 4 candles, but 3 looks great too. I like the goards, but like the look just as much without so I think you can't go wrong with either.

I like the look of it, and real gourds would look better. You can lightly oil them to give them a bit of shine if the skins are dull. They should be available at the beginning of October, and do last a while so this is not something that you would have to pick up at the last minute. Try going to Hicks in Westbury to place an order for the gourds. They might be able to work on a discount if you buy in bulk. You have an idea of how many you need. Bring these pics to show them what you would like to do.

I think it looks great. Real gourds would be awesome if you can swing it, otherwise I dont think it makes a big difference.

Yeah, that is what I was going for because I didn't want flowers. If I ever do want some, though, I'll be sure to NOT call Today's Florist.
